Help! What is this thing called??--Found it Pic in Post #9

I am looking for a little thing to "click" while grocery shopping--kind of like what umpires use to keep track of balls and strikes. I remember seeing them as a child, but I don't know what to search for to buy one.

We are trying to stick to a strict grocery budget and DH shopped yesterday and was having trouble keeping track and went over by $20, not a huge deal, but I don't want that to happen every week!

I was just going to suggest a quackalator as well. In our house, one holds the list and quackalates and one pushes the cart and fetches items. We figure approx. 10% above what the current total is to account for mistakes and tax. Works extremely well.

I remember those things! I forget how they worked but you clicked it to add up your groceries. Ours was red with white clickers. I don't know what they're called, but that was a trip down memory lane! Thanks!

We usually do not shop together (one of stays home with the kids, it cuts our shopping time in half!)

If I can not find this "clicker thingy" we will use a calculator. I have visions of dropping the calculator, clearing it on accident, but I am sure with some practice we could make it work!

Ours was red with white clickers as well! Do they still make these things?
I remember that food prices were mostly 10 cents 20 cents etc. making using those things easy!

Yep I remember those. I had one. Calculators are so cheap now that I would not worry.

Everything I try to use calculator it doesn't work very well, hiting the wrong key and all of a sudden we have $500 of grocery inststead of $25.
