It's Mothers Day in 12 days time and I'm at a loss at what to get her this year.

She is elderly and lives with my sister and as she is not local I will have to post something to her. I know she doesn't want anymore china ornaments or photo frames as she has no space left to display them in her room now. Also she had loads of cosmetics, bath products, chocolates and jewellery at Christmas time.

Anyone got any ideas please?

In US, we have until May to worry (my Mom's anniversary and birthday are like days apart that month). What does your mum like? Does she want to go on an outing or a favorite resteraunt. My gifts are usually a visit (I am 8.5 hours away) or gift certificates. She might like a card that she can redeem with you for a trip/play/event. Does she have a special hair salon---maybe you can have a gift certificate for that? Spa treatments may be fun and theraputic (for those achy days). Good luck.

My Mom loves when I send her things in the mail... I often send something fromand Davids.com (they have the most delicious fruit baskets...all price ranges. Omaha Steaks is another fav.
There's so many shopping websites, have fun choosing!

My Mom likes to be taken out to dinner. If it's to a decent seafood buffet, all the better. My Mom LOVES peel-n-eat shrimp and crab legs.

You could send her one of everything you stated above but with a similar theme and put them all in a nice basket (to hold all of her bath stuff). For example...a book, CD, and video all about love or the relationship between mothers and daughters.

I usually buy my mom clothes. She likes that I pick out things for her that are trendy but don't look silly on an older woman. That doesn't sound like it's an option for you. However, I had an elderly great aunt that lived in an assisted living complex near my mom. Every week my mom would bring her a mylar balloon and a treat. How about something like that? Maybe your sister could even get some balloons for you so you don't have to pay a delivery charge. Then you could just send a treat you know she'll enjoy.

We take our Mum out for lunch and we give her a card and flowers. She loves flowers, it just brightens her day! :)

A few years ago I did give my Mum a book on mother/daughter relationship but on saying that I like the idea of a video. ::yes::

But which one? I have no idea as I don't watch many movies! :p

Shannon, my Mum is not a puzzle person. She did do some cross stitch last year, it took her a while as she has arthritus. It's a thought though - perhaps I could find an easy one for her to do. :)

Thanks for the replies so far. Keep 'em coming!

I've never heard of a mylar balloon before. We have helium filled foil balloons here. Is that the same?

Gift cert to a restaurant.
Helium filled silver balloons are mylar.

My Mother enjoys flowering hanging baskets outdoors during the summer months, so I usually buy her a pretty one of those and take her out to dinner, oh, and of course a pretty card, she loves cards, I think even more than gifts.
