Spine for my Disney cruise album?

I bought one of those nifty new shiney red and blue ones with the logo on the front, but I didn't realize until I took it apart - the spine is stiff, not expandable, and only an inch thick. However, I have two inches of pages to put in it.

What would you do?

I would use a very stiff sailcloth fabric. You would only need a very tiny bit from the fabric store. Sometimes, this comes laminated on one side with a plastic finish, but in any case, it shouldn't tear beyond the holes you cut in it for the book's posts. You could check with the clerks there to make sure it is "rip stop" type. The current spine could serve as a template for at least generally where to make the cuts, even if it isn't wide enough.

This is very helpful - thanks! I have a couple albums that I had to remove the spine for and they are just sitting on the shelf "naked." I will definitely have to try this out!

Wow! Who would have thought.. I wonder if I can find sailcloth in the midwest??? I have 4 books I would love to do that for... (the big ABC 8x8 ones we did last year) my books are bulging!
