help w/cleaning tub...do u use sponge, toilet brush?

I have developed bad allergies to some cleaning products I use baking soda and dish soap. Just scrub it with a sponge and it works great.

I loath cleaning the tub/shower so in order to keep the scrubing sessions down to the minimum, but still have a clean tub, I use Method daily shower spray. You just spray down the walls of the shower, the curtain/door, and the bottom of the tub after you shower and it helps keep the tub much cleaner. I have to clean the tub less and it looks great all the time. Method cleaners are non-toxic and plant based, too. I've seen Method products at Target and Lowes.

When I do clean the tub I use baking soda and vinager with a spounge, and it cleans right up. Since I use the spray there isn't much in the way of soap scum and other assorted ickyness, so it doesn't take long.

Oh gosh, I haaaate cleaning the tub/shower. The best way that I have found to keep it clean is to use Method Daily Shower spray after each shower and then the Method Shower Cleaner on the tiles and Method Le Scrub on the fiberglass with a utility brush. Works wonders.

here some good tips

Apply a heavy-duty bathtub or all-purpose cleaner to a tub coated in enamel, the most durable of bathtub materials. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes, then scrub with a scrub brush using gentle pressure. Rinse well.

Scrub away the remaining soap scum with a scrub brush or an old toothbrush. When scrubbing, pay special attention to the corners of the tub and the area around the drain, where soap scum and dirt tend to build up. Also, look for evidence of a bathtub ring, the ring of dirt and stains that forms around the edges of the tub, which will require extra time and scrubbing.

I have the Scrubbing Bubbles automatic clean shower spray. It is awesome. You push the button after shower and it leaves a film of some sort that deters / cleans the shower.

No soap scum, no hard water or rust stains, no shower curtain "ick".

I do clean every few weeks with a scrub...Comet, Ajax, whatever I have, just for good measure, b/c it weirds me out to not clean it. But to look, it wouldn't seem to need the scrub.

There are two people here, and a bottle lasts about a month, they are frequently on sale and have coupons, so I usually get them for around $2.50.

I use this also. It is great and requires only the touch of a button. I also scrub down once in a while with a scrub brush from the dollar store and shampoo (that I probably got for free) while I am in the show and leaving my conditioner in my hair for a few minutes:goodvibes

I use Scrubbing bubbles mega shower cleaner - spray on all tub surfaces and shower including inside door. Let sit while I clean rest of bathroom. Use an old Scotch brite scrubbing sponge and wipe down surfaces. Then fill a bucket with water and pour on surfaces to rinse. Towel dry. Windex the outside of shower door. I generally do this once a week. If the floors need extra attention use a magic eraser - about once a month.

No way I could clean daily, depsite the shower door getting spots the next day...

I have poor ventilation in my bathroom so I use baking soda on the tub itself (wipe with a sponge). Ialso have been using Faboloso cleaner which comes in a vareity of pleasant scents (and it's fairly inexpensive). However, I don't have an answer for mold/mildew. :sad2:

1st remove any hard water build up or soap scum, mold Magic Eraser works great for this. Rinse well. Let dry maybe speed up drying by drying with a towel.

2nd use car wax on sides of shower/tub not the floor not the top of side where you get in an out of. Buff off when dry.

Now use Scrub Free or something with a wax in it to clean shower/tub Just spry on let set a few mins then spray it off. About once a month or so I might run a rag over the sides an bottom to clean a little better but I usually don't really need to.

Wax the shower/tub about every 6 months or so makes cleaning so much easier...no mold build up the hard water doesn't build up cause the water slides right off.

Something I have noticed bar soap leaves soap scum behind esp Irish Spring and Zest liquid soap usually doesn't.

My husband's only "job" at home is the shower so I don't know what he uses but I do know he cleans it with the Scumbuster. Best brush out there. It's battery operated so you just have to hold it while it does the scrubbing for you.

I use Scrubbing Bubbles for the general tub cleaning, and the Magic Eraser when it really needs a good cleaning.

tub cleaning combo I have ever found is Krud Kutter from Home Depot and the Magic Eraser sponge. Open a window though because Krud Kutter's fumes are as powerful as its' cleaning ability.

Krud Kutter is great :) It cleans everything but your right the fumes are powerful!!!

OP to cut down on cleaning make sure the soap products your using are not contributing to your problems...bar soaps are most likely to leave soap scum and rings.....
I used to have to really scrub with a scrub brush when I used bar soap but now that I have switched to gel liquid soap I now longer get soap scum. Happy Cleaning :)

I only clean the shower while I'm taking a shower - I have a spray bottle w/ vinegar and a scrubbing sponge (one of those flat green ones) in there at all times. Once a week I do this.

The tub never gets used really - so a dusting is what it needs about once every 2 weeks.

I don't like the idea of those spray things after each shower - I don't want my kids breathing that in during each shower... it can't completely disappear, and I feel like the the heat of the shower will make them breathe in whatever is in the spray. I could be wrong, but I feel like you're taking a sauna in chemicals with each shower with those things - and breathing them in. And I realize you hit the button to spray it "after" the shower, but again, those chemicals are still in there for the next day (at least I feel like they would be).
