hi , i really need to take better care of my tub, shower area. i want to start cleaning it every other day..what do u use to clean the tub? dO U use a big sponge? i've been using a toilet scrub brush..thinking this might not be the best.

can u tell me ur routine. also what about the tiles? mine r getting a bit moldy - think of spraying w/a mixture of bleach and water and letting it soak a few hours..

They have these "reach" things to clean the tub/shower. It's like a cleaning pad on the end of a longer stick and you just wet the cleaning pad and it releases the cleanser. Very easy to use. They used to have the Mr. Clean Magic Reach but I don't see it in the stores anymore. I did see a new one by (I think) Scotch brand. Just look in WalMart or Target by the mops and you can find it there.

I also found that by using Scrubbing Bubbles or Oxy-Magic Foam along with the reach thing makes it come out very clean.

For the mold issue.... Try X- 14 spray. It comes in a dark blue trigger bottle and works great.

I tried a Magic Eraser and I loved it. It made it all shiny and nice without tough scrubbing. It will probably need a once a month scrub with a stronger disenfectant, but right now I am LOVING it. I HATE scrubbing the tub. I would rather clean 10 toliets than 1 tub!

I second the magic eraser. I wish I had invented those things! I hate cleaning the tub/shower, and it has made it a little more tolerable. It works great on my shower door too. That thing was always impossible to keep clean. Oh, and I get the ones at the Dollar Tree, a buck for a two pack.

I also use the magic eraser to clean the tub/shower. I love it.

OK, guess i'll be looking to buy the "magic eraser". i will check the dollor store..where else is good to purchase these? do u use it for 1 cleaning or more than 1x?

I actually bought a pack really cheap at 7-11 once. They had a bin of discounted items in it, so I figured what the heck and picked it up. You can find it almost anywhere.

As long as the toilet brush hasn't been used for the toilet brush. Go for it. It makes cleaning out the bottom a little easier. Without getting on your hands and knees.

I also find having a handheld shower head makes cleaning everything so much easier.

I use them until they are so worn down you can't use them anymore. You can get the name brand at any store...walmart, kmart, meijer, kroger, etc. They are made by Mr. Clean. THe ones at the dollar tree have a sponge on one side and the magic part on the other. I like those, because there is a slight residue left by the magic eraser, so it is nice to have the sponge right there to take care of it. Also...these things work great on scuff marks on the walls, and cleaning any hard surface that is difficult to clean. These things are great!!

If you want a spray, Greased Lightning is the BEST - just spray it on and after about 15 minutes, the nastiest soapscum just wipes off! Only warning is it can be rough on your bare hands...use gloves or a brush with a handle!

I love Scrubbing Bubbles foaming shower cleaner. I spray, let it sit a few minutes then scrub with a stiff brush. I do this about once a week and it sparkles.

I love scrubbing bubbles too - works awesome. I don't use it, but my IL's swear by that "clean shower" spray for use after every shower

I'm also a fan of the magic erasure in the shower. I've found that the Mr. Clean ones work the best. I've tried the Target brand and they were ok for countertops and other easy cleanups, but the Mr. Clean ones seem to hold up better for the rougher projects.

We also use the Scrubbing Bubbles shower cleaner. It's a good tool which you just activate at the end of your bath/shower, and it sprays cleaning stuff all over the tub.

Is your bathroom well ventilated? We just did a total remodel and we made sure to add fans.

Our cleaning routine-

After each shower, the walls are wiped dry with a towel. No one bathes, so the tubs only need to be cleaned every few days with vinegar-water and baking soda.

It's been a few months since the remodel and it all still looks beautiful and new. I think the key is the ventilation and wiping it down right after a shower. I'm a bit of a nag about that but it literally only takes seconds.

tub cleaning combo I have ever found is Krud Kutter from Home Depot and the Magic Eraser sponge. Open a window though because Krud Kutter's fumes are as powerful as its' cleaning ability.

I love scrubbing bubbles too - works awesome. I don't use it, but my IL's swear by that "clean shower" spray for use after every shower

I have the Scrubbing Bubbles automatic clean shower spray. It is awesome. You push the button after shower and it leaves a film of some sort that deters / cleans the shower.

No soap scum, no hard water or rust stains, no shower curtain "ick".

I do clean every few weeks with a scrub...Comet, Ajax, whatever I have, just for good measure, b/c it weirds me out to not clean it. But to look, it wouldn't seem to need the scrub.

There are two people here, and a bottle lasts about a month, they are frequently on sale and have coupons, so I usually get them for around $2.50.

thanx for all the replies...i will try a few items and see which works for me!

I found this at homedepot:
Mold Armor 32 oz. Mold and Mildew Stain Remover

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...-D24X-_-100628954&locStoreNum=925&marketID=15

It worked amazingly on the mildew/mold like stains. I bought it because I can't managed to get inbetween the sliding doors on our tub. In 5 mins it was clean. Make sure you open a window as directed it is pretty powerful stuff.

Also I use comet and a kitchen adobe pad. I have never had luck with those magic erasers. My sister always says they are great, but they just don't work well with me.

I don't know about the mold/ mildew but Used dryer sheets work great for soap scum.:thumbsup2

tilex mold & mildew works great but open a window and don't close the shower door when cleaning fumes are very strong

I wipe the tub/shower down with the magic eraser before I get out and it always looks shiny.
