The synopsis: Girlfriend and I are coming to DL for 2 days after 5 days in Vegas. We will arrive in SoCal on 8/24 and do parks on 8/25 and 8/26.

About us:

Her: 24, never been to WDW or DL
Me: 27, been to WDW 11 times, DL once for a day

We do not have a hotel or dining plans at this point and I would like to hear what DISers think we would enjoy. We love going out to eat, but the TS locations at DL look few and far between. Is there anywhere we should definitely try in or around DL or the nearby Anaheim area.

Which hotel would you guys recommend for young couples. We will be spending quite a bit in Vegas so the official DL hotels are out of our budget, I'd like to stay under $150 a night.

Would you guys recommend any viewing options for World of Color?

Anxiously looking forward to responses!

Have you been to Vegas?

I've been a bunch but 1,2 or 3, night visits I find to be the best to LV. For DL, 3, 4 or 5 day visits are best. Perhaps you could switch some nights.

Stay close on Harbor across from the parks.

I'd look at
Park Vue Inn
Candy Cane Inn.

There are of course lots of hotel choices. Candy Cane Inn is a good one and within walking distance.

For World of Color here is the deal:

1. Read this thread - "World of Color Superthread" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=37986447

2. Learn the better viewing spots

3. Get a WOC FP

4. Show up early

There aren't a lot of sit-down dining options in DLR, partly because of there not being as much space to work with, but I'd recommend Cafe Orleans, Wine Country Trattoria, or Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in DTD. All are good choices (WCT is the lowest of them, IMO, but they're all good restaurants).

Regarding WoC, if you follow HydroGuy's link, I'd try the picnic option. It's not necessary, but it lifts the burden, in advance, of you having to line up for FastPasses as soon as you walk into DCA.

How much are you thinking for table service? Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland hotel is great, and if you want to get really fancy, Napa Rose is phenomenal. :thumbsup2

My DH and I stayed at Ramada Inn Maingate back before we were married and we went just us two. It was perfect for us. Right across Harbor. Inexpensive. And a decent room. And we were gone all day long and came back just to sleep.

I don't know if my response is coming too late, but we are currently staying at America's Best Value Inn on Katella, about a block away from the main entrance to DL. We paid about $70/night for a king bed room. The hotel looks a little old on the outside, but the inner courtyard is nice, and my kids are enjoying the pool. The rooms are decent, though not fancy. Free wifi. :) There are tons of restaurants around here, a 7-11 and small market where you can buy fruit and veg, milk, bread etc. We are also right next to Garden Walk. Haven't been over there yet, but it's shopping and restaurants, I think.
