Help us find a new TS this year please! come on inside!

O.k., so we’re super excited to be going back to WDW this year! We’ve had some fantastic meals the past two years but there is one TS that we need to fill in yet for our stay in Sept. We are on the dining plan and have one more TS credit to use. We are pretty flexible as to where to eat, except it can’t be at Animal Kingdom. We are coming back from Seaworld on the day of this meal, so we can take a taxi directly to anywhere we want (park or resort), and then Disney transportation to a park after that if we would like. (most likely Epcot or Hollywood Studios). It will be a dinner meal, not lunch.

We have diverse tastes, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to your responses...

Here is where we are eating this year so far:
Coral Reef (a personal fav.)
O’hana (new for us this year)
Cinderella’s Table (new for us this year)
Yak & Yeti (loved it last year and going back)
Cape May’s Café ((loved it last year and going back)
Mama Melrose (a staple of ours, and I love the wood grilled tuna)

Here is where we’ve been before and are off the list (not necessarily because we don’t like them, we want to try something new and some of them just don’t work with our schedule)
Crystal Palace (twice, pretty good buffet, but been there, done that)
Sanaa (twice, love it but it just takes too long to get there and back to a park)
Akerhus (twice, like the princesses, but food is just o.k. and too much hustle & bustle)
Hollywood and Vine (once, and that was enough)
Garden Grill
Tusker House (pretty good buffet, but we only have one day at AK, and Yak& Yeti is better)
1900 Parkfare (this is a maybe for doing again this year)

What about Via Napoli or Grand Floridian Cafe? 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi Dine In Theater? The Wave(I think its called, at CR)

How about Teppan Edo, it is our absolute favorite! The food is really good and the chefs are entertaining. It's a must do everytime for us

I suggest a country at Epcot. I notice there are not many on your list and those are some of my favorite experiences. We love that the CMs are from the country. Rose and Crown is good because there is a special section for viewing Illuminations. Via Napoli is getting good reviews. We have been to Mexico (too heavy for me), Japan, Morocco, France, England, Canada and enjoyed them all.

My second suggestion would be to visit a resort near the park you are going to go to. If Epcot, then there are lots of options--monorail and Beach Club/Boardwalk area. I like to visit a resort for dinner. We do many of those. I have done most all the monorail restaurants and have enjoyed them--chef mickeys, Kona, the Wave. I have only been to one at the resorts near Epcot/Hollywood Studios, so I can't speak to them.

For Epcot I would choose either Teppan Edu or Le Cellier Steakhouse. For Hollywood Studios I would choose 50's Primetime Cafe. If you want to go to resort, I like 1900 parkfare or Ohana's but you already have that. Enjoy!

I second this. It is very good. Tasty and yummy. Fun ambiance.

Teppan Edo is our must do meal. We have been there three times and have never been disappointed. It is entertaining for both kids and adults.

Too funny!... I didn’t want to bias the replies but we had already been kicking around Teppan Edo’s. Our kids love Asian cuisine and it is new. I just wanted to see if there were other options that would jump ahead of Teppan Edo's, but based on 4 of 6 replies specifically mentioning Teppan Edo's,(with no outside persuasion) it is the clear front runner now.

I’d like to know more about the Rose & Crown though… is the seating area for Illuminations very good? What are some of the better meals? What time would you reserve a dinner if you wanted to be in that special area?

…re 50’s primetime… We go back and forth on this one. We have multiple friends that say it’s one of their fav’s, but… I think we would like the interaction and environment, but the menu just isn't doing it for me, IMO (at least for our tastes). Don’t get me wrong, I love traditional “down home” foods, but while in Disney we like to be a little more adventurous.

EPCOT gives you the most diversity to choose from. We tried Les Chef des France last year and it was fabulous! We also have enjoyed Mexico in the past (due more to the scenery/experience than the food), Le Cellier (for lunch, now that dinner is a 2 table credit), and Rose and Crown.

I'd steer clear of so many character places...generally speaking the food isn't very good.

Boma, Jiko, Sanaa...Chefs, Garden Grill (which is probably the best food of any character place), Kona, Whispering Canyon, Artist's Point, Kouzzina, Any place with "Wolfgang Puck" on the outside...Brown Derby...

Thats's about it.

We have always loved the food and atmosphere at the Biergarten at Epcot. Also we enjoy Chef Mickeys at CR, 1900 Park Fare at GF, and Kona at Poly.

Kouzinna was the suprise hit of last year....My daughter (12) asked if we could go again so that she could have the fish dish I had . We did!

The many suggestions for Kona Cafe has me thinking.

We were planning on doing Ohana's at the Poly, but which would you choose between Ohana vs Kona and why?

We haven't been to either one, and would like to visit the Polynesian for dinner. Either option would work.

My absolute favorite restaurant on property is California Grill. Its a nice atmosphere for the parents with excellent food that you would appreciate and you cant beat the view for the kids AND adults!! If you time it right, you can see the fireworks at MK from the restaurant!

With that said, if you were looking to spend a little less money but go somewhere the kids would enjoy...I'd say T-Rex in Downtown Disney. Very geared to kids and they actually have great food! Or Rainforest Cafe which is along the same lines as T-Rex but I think T-Rex food is better AND I think Rainforest is going to start construction to refurb.

San Angel Inn or Biergarten! I know there are negative reviews of San Angel Inn but they recently revamped the menu around the same time Hacienda opened and I thought our food was delicious I especially recommend the pollo a las rajas! 50s and SciFi are always fun too

Like the others, I would definitely do one dinner at Epcot.

Do you have a Benihana or similar kind of steak house near you? That is what Teppan Edo is like. The chefs are very entertaining and the food is very good, but we can get that at home, so we don't make that our choice for WDW. Of course, everything seems better at Disney, so maybe there is something a little extra special about TE that make people rave about it?

We booked Rose & Crown many years ago for a good view of the fireworks. Well, we ended up having a terrible view of IllumiNations, but enjoyed the food much more than we expected to. This was way back before the DDP was really popular, and the overall quality and number of choices seemed much better. I believe they have taken all of our favorite dishes off the menu, but the food is still pretty good and gets pretty consistently positive reviews. Just don't go expecting to be able to see fireworks. We were seated inside, allowed to go outside, but had to stand back a few rows under an awning, so could not see the higher fireworks at all. I prefer to make early ADRs and then find a spot by the lake to watch the show.

I am assuming you only want to spend one credit? We have really enjoyed Biergarten, Les Chefs de France, La Hacienda and San Angel for 1 credit (Coral Reef is on this list, too, but you are already going there).

As for Kona vs. 'Ohana, I think you should keep 'Ohana. We love them both and try to do both when we are staying at the Poly, but I definitely wouldn't make two trips...and if we have to pick one, it's 'Ohana! Kona has a delicious a la carte menu, but 'Ohana has an amazing atmosphere for kids with games and strolling musicians and a breathtaking view. I would save Kona for when the kids are a little older.
