[Mods: This is a duplicate thread to a post in the Swaps forum. I'm just desperate for help & hoped it might get more attention here. Please delete if that's not okay.]

I don't know if anyone remembers my post in the Rolodex swap thread about my Sizzlits die that wasn't cutting, but things took a turn for the worst last night! :headache:

I've been cutting 2/day for a while so that I could get through all 26 without making myself crazy. I had to give all of the coral pieces an "assist" to get them to release...aka cut them out by hand. I was up to 4 pieces of cardstock for the shim and had to pull the lever down on the big Sizzix machine 3 times. It wasn't too bad...only about 6 spots weren't releasing, so I got brave & tried cutting a few extras. This is what happened after the last cut...and it was fine on the cut right before this one!!

I have no idea how it slid like that because I tried moving it back & it doesn't budge!! Does anyone have this die who might be willing to cut a few for me?!?!? I can't imagine having to cut the rest by hand!

ETA: I have a work around set up & Sizzix was more than kind in handling the problem. :goodvibes

Deb, I hope you find someone to help out!
Have you contacted Sizzix? They should replace that die for you without
issue. Obviously it's defective!

Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

I don't have a sizzex but can you scan in one of each piece somewhere and email me it as a bitemap or jpeg file. I could then trace them in craftrobo and cut them. If someone has the die it would be easier for them but I could do it this weekend and mail them out Monday.

If you can't find anyone that can do it here, you should try scrapshare.com. It is a scrapbooking message board like the dis and they actually have a section where people cut things for other people.

I wish I could help but I would contact sizzix and see what they say about the die!

Good Luck!!

That is so bizarre......sorry, I don't have that sizzix, but like others have said, I woulld contact Sizzix about it.

Thanks to those who offered help! :teeth: It's much appreciated!!

I got through to someone different at Sizzix late yesterday. (I'd contacted them when it just didn't want to cut. They asked that I try to return it first, but I had trouble making contact with that site & it crossed the 1 month return date policy.)

Anyway, this person was very nice and helpful also. It turns out that they had a known problem with some of the more intricate Sizzlits dies - like this one. She said that those just didn't cut well on the original machine & said you really needed to use a roller machine, like the Sidekick...but that just explained the cutting problem. :confused3

She offered to send me a replacement set, but said I'd probably run into the same problem since I don't have a Sidekick. She offered me a Sidekick at half price, but I just wasn't planning on buy that right now. So she suggested the original fish bowl die and they're sending that to me. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the coral pieces. I don't know that I'd have a need for it again though, so this should be fine.

Glad Sizzix can you a workable solution.:)

I'm glad they offered to send a replacement. That's good customer service.

So to be clear, they are not sending you the new die? Cause I do not have the die, but I have a sidekick. If it will help at this point I'd be willing to cut them out for you if you have the die. Of course that is mailing backa nd forth twice, which yuo may not have enough time for that.

Thanks so much for the offer! But no, they're not sending the same die since I don't have the Sidekick.

And the die I have probably won't work anyway anymore - since it's so far off. There's a small lip to the red plastic backing and now that the plate is sort of straddling that lip, the center of the die simply doesn't have the support it needs.

Yours is still defective. I would have them replace it. You dont have to buy the sidekick from them. You could get the new die and take it to a LSS. Most of them have die cutting machines you can use. Or you could always get the sidekick on sale at Hobby Lobby, Michaels or wherever.

I would have it replaced.
