While I am very familiar with disboards (just returned from our first Disney vacation) I know NOTHING about Universal Studios

My brother really wants to go to Universal, and only Universal for his honeymoon, and I would love to be able to help them

So- First I need your help-

Tell me EVERYTHING you can about planning for their first trip

are there discounts like disney has?

Best and most economical place to stay if they dont have a rental car?

Where is the best site to book packages from?

I heard there is a dining plan- your experience with it?

How long of a trip do they need to see both parks? Is a 3 night stay enough?

Background- they will be flying from Cleveland- first vacation trip ever- in their early 20s

THANKS SO MUCH

3 nights would be a long enough stay to see both the parks and still be able to relax by the pool and enjoy the honeymoon.

The best places to stay would be one of the 3 onsite hotels. They are wonderful an on the same level as the deluxe resorts at WDW. You can find discounts at AAA or the supersaver rates are also good, the longer you stay the better discount you get. This is also great since they won't have a rental car. The hotels are within walking distance to the parks or they can take a boat or a Pedicab over to the City Walk Area.

I don't recommend booking a package, I have always found it less expensive to piece part my trip to US/IOA.

The Dining Plan is really not that great unless you like to eat Park Food. The dining plan is only good at a couple counter service places in the park and so it really would only be for lunch and dinner, and depending on when they are going the parks could close early. For us we like the resturants at City Walk and the Resorts so we usually will leave the parks to eat at one of those for dinner.

So, check out the UniversalOrlando website and look at the onsite hotels and start there. Depending on what they are wanting in a honeymoon can get you going on where to stay :). I would prefer PBH for a honeymoon since it is a little more upscale and more romantic. The RPH is great but then you will have more kids running around.
