Hi, Tonight I made my first 2 t-shirts ever. The first came out nice( small image on red toddler shirt). My second shirt, also red, bled through the transfer badly. I used Wilton Transfers for Dark shirts. The red bled through onto the white background-UGGGH! I prewashed the shirt and did not use fabric softener. Can anyone help me figure out what happened? Is it the brand of transfer? If so, what's a better brand that they would sell at Michaels? Did I keep the iron on too long? Was it too hot? Could it have been that I used the top of my washer as the base? I had a pillowcase on top of the washer.

Oh and to make matters worse-My 5 pack of transfers only had 2 in it!!!!!!!! I need to make 5 shirts altogether and now have to rush back to Michaels tomorrow, as we leave Mon. am.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Sometime red and I find black also will go through if your iron to long. Next time cut down on the iron time on those colors and keep the iron moving. You should be fine.

I have maybe a stupid question. How do you transfer your print-out to an iron on?

littleboss: I'm just starting out too, but you buy your transfer paper, put it in your printer like regular paper and just print your image from your computer onto it. It's actually pretty cool. Just takes a little time to figure out how to do it right. There are instructions in one of the stickies above. I believe it's under FAQ's or tips.

I'm so excited because I just did my 4 shirts and they came out great. I used a lower heat setting and left the iron on a shorter time as tinkerbell/pixie suggested-thanks again for your feedback!
