We have some people in our group who want to go to Park A with us in the morning and then go to Park B in the afternoon. Every other day we will all be going to one park a day, and not park hopping. Can we just buy an extra day's ticket for them to use for that afternoon. We do not plan to get park hoppers because we have small kids in the group and I don't think we would benefit for them. However, if someone can use two tickets in one day so they can see two separate parks, this would be cheaper than them buying the park hopper. Is this possible?

If you want to do 2 parks in one day then you have to get the park hopper option unless you are going to purchase a separate 1 day admission ticket.
The hopper option will be cheaper.

Lets say you are doing the park for 4 days. The only way to do this would be to purchase a 4 day ticket and then purchase a separate 1 day ticket at the one day admission price... the one day ticket will cost you about $67 whereas the hopper add on will add $42.

No, unfortunately you can't do that. I was also hoping that would work. I'm taking two of my friends with me, and to save their parents money, we just bought the base ticket. But if we take a break one day and just relax, then we'd have an extra day to use to park hop. But others on the DIS have said that the entrance machines can only register 1 park per day, so it won't let you in. :guilty:

Although, say you go to Magic Kingdom, and you get tired and want to head back to your room for a nap or midday break. You can go back to Magic Kingdom later that day, say for dinner or something. But you can't go to another park.

Sorry but you can't do it that way, the pp's are correct.

The people in your party that want to visit more than one park per day will have to add the hopper option. The rest of the party can stick with the 1 park per day tickets. If your in a package that requires everyone to have the same ticket media just get non hopping tickets for everyone and then upgrade the tickets of those who want to hop on the first park day.

The MYW tickets are sold based on the numer of days not the number of visits to parks. So the 10 day ticket is good for ten days not 10 visits, if you enter the MK in the morning you can't enter another park later unless you have the park hopper. The turnstyle will know that you have used that "day" in another park.

You can't even do it this way - if you go to more than one park a day, the only way you will be admitted is with a park hopper option on your ticket. They will not let you use two separate tickets in one day. Sorry!!
