HELP!! TI 83 Silver

DD has AP Statistics homework that requires hooking her TI 83 Silver calculator to the computer. Does anyone have experience with this? We can't get it to work. The cable we have isn't what is described in the instructions. Any help would be appreciated.

James has one of these. I don't think that we've try attaching it to our computer yet. I do know that it uses a USB connection and that you must have Windows 98 or later with a working USB port in order to make the connection. The last version of Windows 95 (version 2.5) contained USB support, but I never got it working.

The calculator came with a CD that probably has a driver or some other software necessary to connect the TI-83 to the PC.

I will do the best I can-my kids have TI 89- you need to load the soft ware first (we got a CD with the calculator and one with the cable as well and I believe that TI connect is the same for all the models). The cable should be one that will connect to a USB port on the computer-our computer has two in the back and two in the front. Once you have the software loaded and the cable connected, open the program and select TI device info. Select the items in the drop down box that match your cable (there should be some documentation). The computer should then "find " the calculator and then you can do your thing. I don't know what kind of cable is described in the book but the one we have has a USB connector on one end ( it is a flat rectangle) and one into the calculator that is at the other in that is round. Its about 2 feet long and has a clear section with a computer chip in it about 10 inches from the USB end.

Thanks for your help. Three of us tried for an hour and still can't get it running. Homework is going to be late, not like we didn't try though.
