We will be traveling to DW in February. It will be our girls first trip. :cheer2:At the time of traveling, one will be 6 and the other 7. The oldest one will between 48-50 inches and probably around 50lbs. I plan on renting a stroller for the girls, to use in case of needing one. I know that walking all that time at Disney can take it's toll on kids (and even some adults :rotfl:). I am looking for suggestions of a stroller to rent that will accommodate my girls. I think I'm looking for a double stroller, but maybe just a single (won't know until closer to time exactly what i'll need). But I do want it to be able to accommodate either one of the girls, in case they need it. I'm thinking maybe a double Citi Mini, but no entirely sure. Any feedback would be much appreciated. :thanks:

We got back from a trip last week and we rented a citi mini GT double stroller for our 4 and 6 year olds. We honestly didn't use it too much- we only brought it to the parks at night. I believe the weight limit for either side was 50lbs so 100lbs total. It was very easy to use- we rented a regular citi mini last year and DH hated the double wheels in the front. He said the GT was a lot easier to maneuver.

We rented the mini GT Double from kingdom strollers when our kids were that size. Our three much preferred riding to walking due to the heat. It was easy to push and folded pretty easy for the bus.

Consider a park stroller rental if and when you need it. That was our plan the last year we planned to use a stroller. We ended up only renting one night and we ending up not even needing it then. If you did end up wanting one every day, it might cost more, but chances are you might not, or at least not for a whole day. The park strollers are perfect for older kids.....push well and easy to climb in and out of at will.

Don't underestimate your kids. I have taken my own children as well as my nephew. None of them needed a stroller at that age and did just fine.

I'm in the same debate right now. I know I'm getting a stroller for my 5 and 3 year old. They are tall kids (5yo is 45 inches) and both about 50 lbs.
So here are the pros/cons so far for me:
Kingdom strollers:
Citi mini GT double
-comfortable for kids to ride in
-reclines
-seperation between kids
-can deliver case of water to hotel with stroller (this makes me happy)
-cheaper than park stroller
-have to fold and take on/off busses (this sucks)

park stroller:
-no folding, taking on bus
-have to go pick one up every day. I'm not sure how long this takes, but i don't want to have to stand in more lines.
-easy to get in and out of for kids

So I'm leaning toward the kingdom stroller, but I'm not 100% yet. Any other suggestions welcome :)

Do either of your children have any special needs? My youngest did need a stroller due to his sensory issues when we went to Disney when he was 5. My other two kids did not need a stroller at that age. At 6 and 7, there are going to be less kids who need strollers than ones who do - so if your kids have any special needs that make you think they may need a stroller, then plan for a stroller. My youngest - the child with sensory issues - handled Universal/Legoland without a stroller at 6, so I figure that means he can now handle Disney without a stroller too at 7. Our plan is to rent one there if needed because I really don't think we'll need one.

If you get one, just get a single. They can take turns riding and walking at this age. We used a city mini double last time, but DD was 2 and the twins were 6. So they'd just swap out and it worked fine. They fit just fine too. If it looks like they might need a bigger one, the GT is capable of handling bigger kids, or just rent one in the parks. I'm pretty sure a small adult can fit in those! But I wouldn't bother with a double, they really are obnoxious! (Believe me, we've used one for our past 3 trips!). :faint:

I think you should consider renting the park strollers...I don't think you would need a stroller for every day...besides in Disney you aren't allowed to take you strollers into ride lines so they have stroller parking so you would be doing some walking without the stroller anyways. No sense in lugging a stroller everywhere if you don't need one. Specially on buses, bc they can be a HUGE hassle. My son was able to walk around the parks when he was 7, and the only time I thought about maybe possibly renting a park stroller was for Epcot/World Showcase. But even then it didn't really come to that, he sucked it up and dealt with it, lol. On our next trip my younger son will be 3, I am hoping to let him walk around more at Disney next time around. Last trip we had to get 1 of those special passes for him with the stroller bc we figured out he was a bolter and almost fell down a few steps when he just took off for no reason. Hoping that stage is over bc I know even though hes only 3 he is very independent and would rather be walking, LOL...anyways hope you have tons of fun on your trip!

I thank everyone for their input. As of right now, I think I'm going to rent a single and let them share if need be. I think my oldest would rather walk anyway. We will have the stroller for our youngest (whom will turn 6 while we are there) She doesn't look like she's 6 either. She's tiny, she looks about 4 lol. We have until February. So a lot might change between now and then.

my kids were have been mortified if a stroller was suggested for them after they could walk! Each child is different, of course. Ours was permanently packed away when each of them was 2

Have you asked your kids about this? Once DD turned 5 she refused to be in a stroller no matter how tired (we had one that year for DS3). She was mortified when we even suggested it!
This last trip we didn't take one for DS now 5 (who declares himself an "indoor kid" and winces at any kind of long activity - although he plays soccer and ball but not sure with him but I digress) We told him no stroller and he handled 10 days with 9 of them park days with no problem (only a little whining at night but nothing major)
