We are convinced all will be happier if we have strollers for our kids: DD7, DS5, both weigh about 55 pounds. We have always used umbrella strollers, but I think they are too heavy now. We do not want to rent for many reasons. Any suggestions? THANKS

We have a Baby Jogger City Mini and we love it. The Baby Joggers have strollers that will go up to 100 pounds and I remember seeing one for doubles that went up to 150 for doubles. Try their website to see the different kind that may meet your needs and then you can search their site to find a location close to you. I can tell you that we have a warranty that replaces the stroller for 1 year from them and an extended warranty we bought that does the same for an additional year after that.

oldest DD weigh's in the upper 40's. I just bought a Maclaran twin techno yesterday. Goes up to 110lbs or 55lbs per seat.

My issue was we also have a 5 month old so needed something that would work for both.

Really nice stroller.

My 7yr old still fits in our Baby Jogger City Classic. It is the best stroller we have EVER had!!

We're bringing two Maclaren Volos for my 6 yr old and 2 yr old nephews. The Volo holds up to 55lbs and has a pretty roomy seat. The sunshade is pretty large and it comes with a raincover. You can get them for under $100 each on eBay.

I have the same issue. I have a 55 pound 6 yr old who has alot of energy but at the end of the day a stroller is needed. Looks like Orlando Stroller Rental has the City Classic Baby Joggers that come in singles or doubles and have a higher weight limit. I think we are going to try that this year.

Last year we rented a double stroller right from disney world for 7 days. That cost a fortune. We took our DD4 and DD3. We're going back in October with DD5, DD4, and DS2 and need to figure out what to do about strollers. If you bring your own stroller, what do you do with it on the buses? It looked like such a pain for some families.

Orlando Stroller rental is less than half of what the strollers cost in the parks AND you will have the stroller to use at your resort. For 10 days it cost us $107.00 (including tax) That included delivery to our resort and pick up. Plus the stroller is alot more comfortable than the ones at the parks.

If you are using buses, those joggers are a pain! I have a Maclaren that works for my DS who weighs 59# and has low muscle tone. Folds up easily and is lightweight. If you are dishing out close to $100 to rent you might consider buying, especially if it would be useful at the airport. You could always re-sell it later.

We are using Maclarans for both kids, ages 4 and 6 this trip. We used them last year and it was great. My son, age 6, never uses a stroller but Disney is different and we are glad to take it again this year. We bought one of the strollers extra just for Disney last year. Cheaper than renting, high handles, steers well, and you have them at the airport too!

When our oldest was 5, he fit in the back of our Graco Duo Gloder - his feet just went down in the storage area. He's very tall. He didn't ride much; he preferred to walk the vast majority of the time.

Here's a photo of him in the front of the duo glider... didn't work so well:

This year, he will be 7. I thought about getting some kind of special needs stroller for him - as those have higher weight limits. However, they cost about $1000. However, I asked him if he thought he would need a stroller, or if he will want to walk. He said he'll want to walk. If need be, we'll rent one from the park. They're $8 or something like that.

The rental is darned expensive but we did it anyway and were glad we did. Shucks, you could purchase three strollers for what we rented for though.

Just and FYI, the rentals at the park are about double that. The single strollers are $15 and the doubles are $31 per day. there is a slight discount if you purchase at length of stay stroller rental for multiple days up front.

We're bringing our 2 volos in May for our 7 and 5 year olds. I got them new from ebay for $75 2 years ago (with the advice I got from these boards) and this will be our 3rd trip to Disney with them. They are the best! They're easy to push, fold up easily and are super light to carry. Mine also came with rain covers - which were wonderful in Aug 2008 when we met Tropical Storm Fay!

When we went we had two 7 year old and a 5 year old and I just decided that if we needed to rent a stroller we would. We did MK, AK, and then
Epcot and when entering World Showcase decided to get a stroller. They did great walking. My suggestion? Put it in your budget just in case and see if you need its.

Sorry about that! Thanks for correcting me. Hadn't had my coffee yet...

A vote for Orlando Strollers. We rented from them for our trip in Sept and it was great! The stroller was at our hotel when we arrived, we were able to use it the entire time, around the hotel, to DTD and to the parks. DS5 and DD3 were very comfortable in the stroller, it had 2 very large canopies, a large basket area, was easy to manuever - and super easy to fold up for the bus rides. DS is very tall for his age, but had plenty of room. And it was nice to return it to bell services at the end of our trip, and walk a few steps to wait for ME to take us back to the airport.

Would it have been nice to have a stroller at the airport - not really. I prefered not to have our stroller(s) beat up by the airlines, and we paid less than $100 for our rental. Our kids were more than happy to walk through the airport with us. We will definitely rent a stroller from Orlando Strollers again.
