My DD2 fell in love with a cheap pair of sandals - made entirely of foam - at Wal-Mart. Why? They of course had Minnie on them. They are very cute shoes and she wears them ALL the time. Introducing another pair of shoes throws her into a tizzy. The problem is that they STINK to the high heavens. :scared1: Her feet stink too! :scared: It takes some serious scrubbing of her feet to get them to smell pleasant, and the shoes are just gross. Does anyone know how I can wash them? I'm not a fan of Wal-Mart and hate the idea of going back to see if they still have them there, and these are in fairly good shape. Can I soak them in something to get rid of the smell and the dirt?

Have you tried a paste of oxyclean powder? mAke a paste with it and coat the shoes. Let it sit for about 30 min then rub it with a damp cloth. Then just rinse it off. It worked for dd's fake crocs. The real ones never got that way.

how about a little bleach in the hot water along with detergent? sounds like smelly bacteria/fungus or mold. My boys wear summer mesh sneakers most of the summer and man do those stink after awhile.... I just periodically wash them (the shoes, not the kid's) in hot with detergent and alittle bleach and wha la---smell free.

ps... I also nag them about actually scrubbing between their toes and all around feet for longer than 2 seconds. Go figure! I'm such a mean mom.

Make a paste from baking soda and water and wash the shoes with it. If they still smell, put them in water with baking soda disolved into it and weight them down to keep them under water and let them soak.

Baking soda soak should work. Mix with water. I buy a huge bag at SAMs for about $3. I would do that with her feet too, washcloth with some baking soda on it. Maybe it would help before she wears them too.

i don't know if there is any truth to this, but i heard that by freezing stinky shoes it kills the odor causing bacteria which eliminates the odor. never tried it, but it might be worth trying before attempting anything with chemicals that may ruin the shoes - especially if she is that obsessed with them! :)

yummmmmm I bet those frozen burgers, steak, and chicken taste yummy then.:rotfl::lmao:

for stinky feet. Make a strong tea, just plain old regular tea and let it cool some. Then soak toesies in the tea. The tannic acid in the tea kills the smelly bacteria. My oldest son was a landscaper and would wear work boots that were hot and sometimes wet. We ran when he would take off his work shoes. Even scrubbing with a salt scrub didn't make them smell much better. The tea bags work and cost pennies. You could pretend she was getting a pedicure. Good luck!
