I already booked the YC for our honeymoon in May. However, we were having a very hard time deciding between the YC and the BWI. I go back and forth between the two. We are 29/28 and do want to go to Jellyrolls, and will spend most of our time at Epcot and MGM. However, we also want some quiet time as well. We have looked at the pictures of both resorts and tend to like the inside of the BWI better, but the grounds of the YC better. If anyone has recent pictures of either resort, or any ideas, suggestions for us please let me know! We also don't want to split our stay..so that isn't really an option.

Thanks so much!
Lisa

SnoWhite,

I may not be as impartial as I should be, but my DW and I honeymooned at the YC and loved it. It was nice and quiet, but yet we were still a 5-10 minute walk to the Boardwalk and walking distance to both Epcot and MGM.

I think BWI will probably have a bit more action around it simply because of it's proximity to the Boardwalk, so it depends on how much quiet time you really want.

We had our "expensive" meal at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and really enjoyed it. Make certain, whatever you do, that you let every CM you can that you're on your honeymoon. You never know what freebies might come your way.

Also, if you stay at YC, you'll have access to SAB, the best pool on property.

Good Luck whatever you decide, and congratulations!!!

I agree with DemoBri1 I would choose YC. It is a beautiful resort, rooms are larger and quieter then the BW. YC also has the best pool on property and some pretty good restaurants. I would recommend Yachtsmans St and Beaches & Cream. You can easily walk from YC to EC or to the BW area with Jellyrolls. Both are a short walk on a boardwalk around Crescent Lake or take the boat. You might even want to rent a surrey bike.
Stick with your original choice and then have cocktails one evening in the Belle Vue Room lounge. You can sit on the balcony and watch all the action that is occuring on the BW. In the evening they have lots of entertainment on the lakefront area. Not only can you visit Jellyrolls but the Atlantic Dance Hall, ESPN Club or have ice cream in the sweet shop, then go back to a quiet hotel room.

Check out the area map which will show you how close you will be to EC & BW.

Garden Suites -

Hi Lisa,
The location of both is just great, of course, and would think either would be a winner. It might be a good idea to ask about the Garden Suites at the BWI, which are sometimes known as the Honeymoon Suites. Two floors with a Jaccuzi on the upper (bedroom) level. Agree with Grumpy on the Belle Vue Lounge at the BWI, and with everyone else on the quality and variety of restaurants in the area. Have a most magical trip!! Bob

Sno White,

I am also trying to decide b/t the YC and BWI. I just got off the phone with Disney to make a ressie. The price b/t the two was exactly the same and so I asked about the size of the rooms. I was told that the average sq. ft of the YC rooms was 380 sq ft. and the Boardwalk's average is 434 sq. ft. I noticed that Grumpy had posted that the YC "rooms were larger". I asked the CM to check again to be sure of the size and again she told me the same measurements. Both were standard rooms. I decided to go with the BWI for the room size and view of the fireworks (hopefully). We are a family of four and need the space. Just thought I would pass this info along.

I am assuming that Disney is correct but if anyone has stayed both places and found this different, please post and let us know!

I do believe Lizal is right in the fact that BWI rooms are slightly larger, but in reality I'd doubt you would notice the difference.

I know when DW and I stayed at YC we were actually in two different rooms. We originally were going to stay on property for 5 nights then transfer to an Embassy Suites for the last 3 nights. What a mistake!! After one night at Embassy we invoked our 100% satisfaction guarantee and came back to YC. Our first room had a King size bed, while the 2nd room had 2 Queens. The room with 2 Queens felt much larger than the King bed room. Also, we were able to view Illuminations fireworks from our balcony at any time.

The BWI Garden Rooms might be a bit more quiet, but I'd still rather stay at YC to take full advantage of SAB along with the quiet refined feeling that the resort gives off. One thing you might want to try and see if you can get a lagoon view room in the section of YC next to the Turret suite tower. This was the best view possible!! Directly looking out over Crescent Lake across to the Boardwalk.

DemoBri1,
Just curious if you have to upgrade to a water view to be able to see Illuminations from the YC balcony you are referring to? If I understand correctly, you can see Illuminations from the standard (garden) view from the Boardwalk Inn.

I chose BCV over BWV for my honeymoon due to the resort options @ YC/BC/BCV. I've stayed at all of the resorts: BWI, BWV, YC, & BC. I love the BW lobby, rooms, & location, but I think SAB, B & C, & YC galley (breakfast buffet), Hurricane Hanna's @ SAB (you can get your mug refilled at the pool - you can't @ BWI) offer more variety (at BWI, you have to walk outside to eat anywhere). The hot tub @ SAB is really romantic & watching Illuminations from your balcony or the BW bridge is romantic, too. At YC you'll get on & off the buses faster, and you'll be guaranteed a full size balcony. Plus, the rooms were just refurbished & they look great - fresh, new, & masculine somewhat, in appearance IMHO.
Regardless of what you choose - have a great time & congratulations!:sunny:

We did Honeymoon Grand Plan in 1997 at the BWI. It was so great. Definately push that you are on your honeymoon, our room was directly over the old "Bowls of Fun" Spoodles's Sign.
Now that we have DS, we stay at YC because it is quieter. But if it was just DH and me, we would probably do BWI.

Lizal,

I do believe you would need a water view room facing Crescent Lake in order to view Illuminations. I'd doubt any of the standard view rooms would allow this. There is no "lagoon" view per se at YC, you simply must request to have a water view room looking out on Crescent Lake because a water view at YC could me a pool or canal view as well.

I'm not certain as to whether or not you can see Illuminations from a BWI standard/garden room. I would think you would have to be facing out towards the Boardwalk and have a view of Crescent Lake to do this, which would mean that you'd have a water view or boardwalk view room. Someone please confirm this.

Brian

We've done YC Water View last two trips and watched Illuminations from our Balcony (we stayed in the same room both trips.) You would need to have a room in one of the YC sections that extends out toward the lake, so check the floor plans.
