I've got myself in to a state of worry:headache: As some of you know my wedding is on August 17th at 10.00am. We are flying in on August 16th, due to arrive at 1.30pm. I have somehow convinced myself that my plane will be delayed, severley, like overnight or something and we won't be able to make it to our wedding. I know there are many of you that have flown in the day before, so how did you handle this?
There is no option to change my flight to the day before as these particular flights leave every Thur. Even if I had one more day like arriving on Wed, I'd feel so much better. I know the chances of being delayed overnight are very slim, I mean I've flown dozens of times and this has never happened to me before.
I cannot change my wedding date to the day after as that would be a Sat, not only is it more expensive but I've booked everyone already. Specifically to UK brides, did anyone take out Wedding Insurance for an overseas wedding? I think this covers things like delays, but I'm really worried that if this was to happen, we'd kinda be screwed!!! I mean would Disney be nice enough to try and fit us in at some point?

If anyone could put my mind at ease, I'd be really grateful. I'm so scared that if this was to happen I'd lose Randy, Randall and Stan (my photographer, Rev and Videographer) they would likely be booked up every day and this would totally ruin everything:sad1:

Thanks everyone

I'm looking at taking wedding insurance purely for the fact incase anything happens before the wedding as we are going out a week before. I think its about £80 and covers all your deposits so I would say its worth it to take out at puts your mind at ease

sorry i dont have any advice, but all I can say is....relax and try not to worry. Things will go smoothly.

Your still flying during a time that shouldnt be to bad weather wise.

Take a deep breath & think positive...maybe your vibe will bring you luck:goodvibes

& it sounds like the insurance isnt a bad idea...Id do it..might help put your mind at ease

We have an annual travel insurance policy and its only £30 to add wedding cover to it so i think its worth doing but im not sure exactly what it covers, i know wedding attire, rings and any presents are covered but not sure about delays and not making to the wedding, we arrive 5 days before so i didnt even think about that. Are you getting your marriage license by post? if so how easy is it to do that?

Summer, I just wanted to say I'd be thinking EXACTLY like you are. I always think the worst too. And you know what? The worst never happens. Best of luck to you! Sending pixie dust your way :wizard:

ugh, I wish I had some advice as well besides to just relax and try not to worry. Besides, why spend all that energy worrying when it may not even happen?! My mother is a big worry-er and I always tell her not to start worrying about something until it's time to.... and even then, worrying doesn't make matters better.... it just stresses you out more and then you can't think clearly about what your options are.

***HUG****

I also wanted to ask you if your avatar picture is you? well, of course it's you..but I mean was that picture airbrushed or is it digitally made or something because you look like a perfect anime character in it! you are so beautiful!

Caitlin, sorry i should have added please try not to worry, i know its hard because although i dont have this worry im worrying about plenty of other things as im sure you must be too, it wouldnt be natural for a bride not to worry. Everyone keeps telling me everything will be fine on the day and im sure it will for all of us, you sound very organised and im sure your wedding will be perfect.
I have flown to florida 8 times with a few different airlines and yes there are occaisional delays but i think my longest has been 4 hours. Who are you flying with?

Summer,

I know exactly how you feel. In October I almost had a fit over the thought of our flight being cancelled. What was I thinking....flying out of Buffalo on january 1st!?!?! Am I asking for it? (Buffalo is know to get huge snow falls at the drop of a dime because of Lake Erie, and in fact, had a huge snow fall in October that put the city into a state of emergency because we usually don't get snow around these parts in Oct). And I stressed about it for a week. Should I get insurance? Should I change the whole thing to a safer time?

I read the insurance policies available carefully and decided against it. There was so many ways that the insurance company didn't actually have to pay if something happened. In the end I just had to face it -- if something was going to happen, it was going to happen and there wasn't anything my worrying could do about it. So I just needed a little faith.

Of course, I also wouldn't allow anyone to talk about the weather in Orlando until we were actually IN Orlando. So there was a moritorium on all discussions about the weather until then.

It all worked out ok. Feel better, breathe, and enjoy controling the things you can

Please don't worry- so easy for me to say, I would have done the same things! If it would put you more at ease, take the flight that is a day earlier. No one wants you upset/worrying 5 months before your wedding.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I didn't think anything of it initially when I booked my flight, but now that everything seems to be going smoothly, I've started thinking about delays. I mean I've ever been delayed much at all, so I don't know why I thinkI may be this time. I am flying with MyTravel an airline I have never flown with, and I am flying out of Glasgow airport, an airport I have never flown from. I think it is more fear of the unknown, I guess. I wish I could change to a flight the day before, but this particular flight only flies every Thur, so it would mean changing my booking totally.

luna99 - Thanks for the compliment:blush: , I never see myself as being beautiful! That is me in the avatar, and no it's not airbrushed, I took it with my mobile phone to see if I could actually see the weight loss. My DF loves that pic, weird how everyone says it looks anime, I have had many people say that to me:rotfl:

Ooops! Sorry, I realized I misread your post! I am sure everythign will be fine and I am glad things are running smoothly.
I thought your pic was an anime drawing done of you!!!! Wow! You are gorgous!

Awww, thanks... I think it looks more anime the smaller it is, in my profile I don't think it looks anime at all (I'm supposed to be Italian:rotfl: )I'm one of those people that looks different in every pic I have. To be honest I'm really nervous about getting my pics taken for the Wedding, I'm not really the type that likes to get my pic taken. I have only a few pics of Steven and I together because we are both camera shy. It's a shame because we have both been together so long and I have about 10 decent ones of us together. I think that's why I want to get loads of us together during our wedding/disneymoon. As long as I keep losing weight, I think I'll feel okay.

The chances of a delayed flight for 24 hours is very slim. You need to believe in the odds that you'll have a 99%+ chance of making it to Orlando on August 16th and a high probability of making it there at precisely 1:30 p.m.

Everytime I start to worry about little things that can go wrong, I have to tell myself to look at the glass 99% full instead of 1% empty. The reason we do this is because we have so much control over our planning and think about them everyday, but then we realize we have no control over details like airlines, severe weather and global events.

My concern is losing my luggage. I have no control over that and can only minimize the damage if fate decides it'll happen to me. I think the items that can't get replaced easily, I'll try to put into my carry on bag. The ones where I can walk into a Wal-Mart and re-purchase at the last minute, I'll put into my suitcase. I'll also spread the important items evenly between suitcases so if one bag goes missing then I won't lose everything.

I know this is off topic..but I'm that way too. I'm so worried my pictures will come out bad or I won't like any of them.... ugh! I'm probably my own worst critic though! I'm sure your pics will be gorgeous darling!

Summer- from my experience working in the travel industry mytravel will try and get thier plane away as they are a chartered airline so it cost them alot of money and the plane would be more than likely full, they have very short turn around so normally airlines that are attached to a holiday company are pretty good with timings.

Having flown with them myself I would ask you one thing have you upgraded to the premier cabin? We flew to kenya with them and it was the worst flight ever your were packed in like sardines! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but thought I would let you know

Wow....you sound just like me.....its getting worse as I get older...less & less oics of me.....and there are hundreds of my DD and only a handful of pics of me & DH...probably cause Im the one always taking the pics;)

Your pic does look really neat....like a model....im sure your pics will be great....good job on the weightloss.....:thumbsup2

I've had some luck with this web site, which tells you the best and worst seats on most airlines and their planes:

I agree with ChocolateMouse that lost luggage is a bigger concern. Be sure to put anything you need for the wedding that can't be easily replaced in your carryon luggage (veil, tiara, shoes, dress, etc). Makeup could be replaced fairly easily if you are doing your own.

Try not to stress about this issue. We flew to Florida from New York City 2 days before our wedding, and DH's family flew out one day before the wedding. This was also in the middle of January when there can be tons of delays. To top it off, DH is the worst flyer ever (one time he started screaming "We're plummeting" but that's another story...) Anyway, I would have expected a terrible flight down, but we left on time, had the smoothest flight ever, and even DH couldn't complain. You'll be fine.
