We're going to WDW at the end of April. I need suggestions for socks that will help prevent blisters. I always wear athletic shoes to the parks but I've noticed over the last few years I've started getting blisters on my baby toe and on the ball of my foot (what??) no matter what I do to prevent them. Any ideas??

Good quality socks are a good idea, but I'm wondering if your shoes are an issue? Pretty sure with the right shoes you shouldn't be getting blisters. You might try out some shoes at a specialty shoe store where they have people who can measure your feet properly, watch how you walk, and make recommendations.

We have been to WDW for the past 6 years, Every year i get toe blisters even with broken in shoes. I think it has to do with the foot sweat.
This past year i used Body Glide. Rubbed it between my toes in the morning and Not One Blister. It really works.

Make sure socks are not cotton, are moisture wicking, and fit your feet properly, which no bunch of the sock. That said, I wear properly fitted socks, properly fitted and broken in shoes (I've done the go to the running store and get fitted for shoes thing), have used body/foot glide, and I still get blisters on the bottoms of my toes. While properly fitting socks and shoes are important, I think how a person walks is a big factor in this, as well as how accustomed a person's feet are to being walked on all day long like you do at Disney.

I LOVE my Bombas. I wore them on my last trip and they were so nice to my feet. I also second the recommendation for Body Glide on your feet. They even make one specifically meant for feet. It helps to keep your feet from sweating and rubbing.

My husband swears by "Darn Tough" socks. They are pricey, but so worth it.

I second the recommendation on the thinner smart wool socks. I know wool sounds hot but it has superior wicking properties and will keep your feet nice and dry. I'm curious about the Bombas recommendation. I LOVE their socks as they're super cushioned. But I've never worn them at WDW and they are cotton so I wonder about their wicking properties.

They did pretty well with that for me. I just wore their ankle socks with the blister tab at the back and had no problems as far as sweaty socks go. They seem to do a good job with wicking and are built with support and cushioning in all the right places as well as no toe line to irritate your toes. They also just came out with some performance socks that have extra wicking properties from their standard socks that I haven’t tried yet but sound awesome. It’s also cool that they donate a pair of socks to those in need for every pair bought. That’s how I get past the price anyways.

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback! I'll add them to my packing list for our next trip!

I tried a number of athletic shoe/sock combos and always got blisters. I switched to sandals, and changing them up every day and sometimes twice a day, and haven't had a blister since. For our 2 family WDW vacations last year, I don't think I packed a single pair of socks for anyone in the family:)

Agree- if you go to a walking or running store you may find they recommend sizing up 1/2 a size. When you are on your feet all day they will swell- so having that extra size can be helpful. My regular shoes I wear a size 8.5 but in running shoes I'll wear a 9 or 9.5 depending on the brand. I also recommend light wool or synthetic socks - stay away from cotton. Another tip is to bring an extra pair of socks with you to change mid day.

If you do decide to change socks I’d also recommend reapplying the bodyglide as well... if you are going to go through the effort to do one you mine as well do both

Swap socks halfway during the day, reapply body glide or some chamois butt'r.

Any moisture is bad, friction is bad.

If you're willing to pay for them, Feetures are solid--I only use them for running since they're in the neighborhood of $15 per pair. Look for the word "Elite" in the name to get their high end socks that are marked R and L; because they're designed for each sock to fit specifically on the left or right foot, there isn't any extra fabric to bunch up around your pinky toes.

Body Glide or the new Gold Bond Anti Friction stick all over your feet and between your toes.

I LOVE the injinji socks. They have toes. They look ridiculous. They keep me from getting blisters.

There are also Engo blister patches that you put inside your shoe right where you get the blisters. They're super slick and help prevent friction.

All of those things help minimize blisters for me!

Balega Hidden Comfort and Body Glide

I have been struggling with blisters at Disney for years. I discovered these socks for my last trip in December and they worked like a miracle. No blisters!
