:scared: So, I finished cooking about an hour ago, and half of my house smells deep-fried.

I rarely cook with oil, and if I do, I usually do it outside.
I ran out of propane for the camp stove, so I had to fry in the kitchen.

Is there some old-fashioned or new-fangled way to get the smell out fast?
All advice appreciated!:worship:

open a window, light a candle, spray lysol, wipe down the stove and counters, run the dishwasher. :confused3

Just thought of an old thing I heard once... boil water with lemon juice and cloves. Never tried it. Couldnt hurt.

Febreze Air Effects. It truly does eliminate odors, not just cover them up.

Set out a bowl of 1/2 cup of white vinegar overnight as the vinegar evaporates the smell will vanish.

Or

Boil 1 cup of water with 3 Tablespoons of white vinegar for quicker relief.

I have sprayed the lysol and lit a glade Christmasy candle.

I have it on the stove now, I'll let you know!

Totally forgot I owned this, also in a Christmasy scent! Gonna try it too.

Thanks guys! It smells like Christmas and Thanksgiving (from the cloves) in here instead of fried food. I might have to run out and buy a tree!
Now, about my hair.....

Oooh! What's the name of the Christmasy scent? Is it cinnamony?

I think I just broke the spell check with this post.:rotfl:

Thank you!! But I think I have too many smells going on at the moment.:rotfl2: I was typing while you were posting. If I can still smell it tomorrow, I will try the vinegar!

Glistening Snow, it is my favorite scent. Just got them at Walmart on Wednesday. If they sold it all year my house would always smell like Christmas. I have the candles, the Febreeze spray and the plug in fans. I don't use them all at once.;)

Man, I used to use this stuff when me and my friends would sneak cigarettes in the Girl's bathroom in High school! I didn't even know they still made it!

Heheheheee

Yep, our food stores carry it, so does walmart. Small spray bottles are in the car freshener section.

It is also used in hospitals.

Fill the main sink with hot water and a measure of your biological clothes soap/power/liquid/gel. Let stand overnight.

To remove grease on walls and appliances, use decorators soap(we call it sugar soap) in a weak solution, say 25% compared with the standard paint treatment concentration. Use as hot , wear rubber cloves and apply with a sponge or cloth. Rinse down afterwards.

Alternatively, you can use a steam cleaner. but get one of the bigger ones on wheels that run at 140 celcius and 3-4 atmospheres of pressure.

You may needto replace your extractor hood filter, or clean it if it is a cleanable steel one on either biological clothes solution or a weak solution of hot water with detergent and a small cup of soda crystals

We find that we get far fewer odours of any kind as over the last 10 years we have a dehumidifier running in the hallway downstairs. This seems to take out the smells along with the airborne moisture

And yes, I do all the heavyside cleaning in our home. Mrs Varkie does daily surface cleaning like running a dish cloth over surfaces after meals, but I do walls, ceilings, ovens, floors, carpets, fridges, bathrooms, toilets, cars, driveways etc etc. I enjoy making the place look clean and I think it is pretty good excercise.......I certainly build up a sweat........and I take my reward of a glass of shiraz at the end ;)
