Help! Smelly dishwasher!

My dishwasher smells after we run it. It smells like there might be food or something stuck in it but there isn't anything I can see in the bottom of it. Any suggestions for things to try and clean it without having to call a serviceman?

It almost for sure is food caught somewhere... what frequently helps me is using youtube.... seriously. I have fixed my dishwasher and my kitchen sink plumbing after watching youtube videos.
