Hi! I need some advice from all you resort hoppers. We are staying at POR for 4 mights and the switching to WL for the next 4. Our check-out/check-in day will be on Tues Oct.22. Options are to check out early and hit the parks and head to WL around 2 p.m. (hoping our room will be ready) or check out of POR after breakfast and head to WL and spend the day at the pool and explore our new resort. For those of you who have switched was your new room ready fairly early (would love for DS and DD to get in a good nap. Any input would help. Thanks

Unless you have an AP or UHP, I vote for saving your hopper, exploring your resort and enjoying the pool. :)

I agree. You should save a day and spend the day at the pools. Pack a small bag with your swim things in it and let the Disney Luggage Fairies take your other stuff.

I agree with DisneyAlly. I wouldn't waste a park hopper day if you don't have an AP or UHP. You can't really count on your room at WL being ready early, but you might want to check out of POR as late as possible and then head over to WL or go to DD for a while. I'd enjoy the resorts that day if you can.

Have a great trip!

I'm checking out early - hitting Blizzard Beach for the morning/afternoon then heading to the second resort for check in - it will only cost me a plus.

That's an idea too ... as long as you can be packed up and ready to go by 8:30 or so. The water parks get packed pretty early.

When we switched in June one of our rooms (we had 2 rooms) was ready when we checked in (around 10:30 am). After we checked in we went to Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast & by the time we got back our other room was ready & our luggage was there (though I'm sure people aren't always this lucky)! We had UHP's, so after the kids took an afternoon nap we went to the pool, ate dinner, and then went to the MK.

Have a great trip!

We have done a few different things.
Spent the day at the beach....Daytona. Checked out by 9am, arranged for them to move our luggage and headed to Daytona. Returned around 6pm and room was ready and luggage there.
Once we spent the day at Downtown Disney. Checked out by 11, went to DTD, shopped some, DD and DH went to Disney Quest for the afternoon while I shopped more. Then I went and got us checked in. By time DD and Dh returned...I was already in the room with the luggage and ready for a dip in the pool before dinner.
Once, since we had APs, we slept in til checkout time. Then headed to Epcot to spend the afternoon at World Showcase. Had lunch, and just a more relaxing afternoon. DD got a passport and got stickers and stamps from every country. Then we headed back around 5 and relaxed for the evening.

I would definitely use this day as your relax & down-time!!

If the kids get to sleep in, would they still need a nap??
Either way I think the room would be ready by 3 at the latest.

Since you pointed out that this is pretty much your "half-way" point (4 nights at POR and 4 at WL), I would use this as your rest day. Hang out at POR as long as possible- you won't have to be scrambling to pack the night before. I would get up and have breakfast, pack, do any laundry, etc (let the kids swim). Pack a small bag with swimsuits, extra clothes, etc and bring a plastic bag for wet things. Call bell services to pick up your luggage when it's ready and check out. Are you using Disney transportation to get to WL? Find out the easiest route . Check into WL- have lunch at Roaring Forks and explore the lodge!!!!! This would be the day to let the kids go wild in the arcade, if need be. I'm sure you will use the pool again!!!! After you check in and little one gets a nap , maybe take the boat over to the Contemp and have dinner at Chef Mickey's or stay at "home" and do Artist Point or Whispering Canyon.

***Another possibility is to ask "nicely" for a late check out at POR.
They may not charge you. It's not like "Tuesday" is a big arrival day or anything and this would greatly decrease your time "without a home". The worst that can happen is they would say no. Also, you can request for "early check in WL". there are no guarantees, but it never hurts to ask ...

Whatever you do, have a fun day!!!!
