Someone suggested I post here and ask about this because of my young son. Help me decide. We originally decided to go this Sept. 22-30, but now we are having second thoughts. Here's our dilemma: If we go this sept. we get the really cheap AS rate, but I am in school and don't want to miss any school if I can help it. Plus, our son will be 12 months old, but we already have reservations and I'm super excited. If we go in May I don't have to miss school and my son will be 20 months old instead of 12 months, but I don't know if we will be able to get a good hotel rate. Plus, I don't know what age would be better. So, if you were me, what would you do? Sept. or May?

My first reaction was "Go In September, It is sooner!". However, that said, I would actually wait until early May, 2002. That way, you don't have to worry about missing school and your son will get a little more out of it. Early May is beautiful in Central Florida. Plus you get the enjoyment of the Flower & Garden Festival and the 100 year celebration will be going on. It would be hard for me to cancel a September trip and wait until next year, but it would be worth it!:p

I would say wait until May. Even if the hotel price is a little more, you can save more money between Sept. and May also. I know how hard it is to wait. We are going this Sept with 4-y-o DD and 19-m-o DS. Our next trip after that will be in May of 2003.

I think May has better weather, from what people say. We have always gone in May and it is great. I understand September is hotter and has more bugs (which my DD hates - not sure how she will react this year.)

Good luck with your decision.

I agree with the other 2 posters. I would go in May. At first I thought that September would be my choice. After reading your situation I think that May would be the better option. A little longer wait, but you will hve extra time to save and your son will be a little older. Not to mention you won't have to miss any school. The weather and crowds in May will still be good. You will not have the summer heat and crowds yet!!

We did BOTH May and September last year.

May weather was BEAUTIFUL. Pretty warm, but not too humid, and didn't rain a drop the entire time we were there. Crowds weren't bad at all.

September....well, we got there, and the next day Hurricane Gordon hit. POURED the ENTIRE DAY!!! We finally ventured out and did DD around 4 or 5, figuring we could run from store to store. Everyday during that trip there was a thunderstorm lasting an hour or two. Oh, and the heat and humidity.....YUCK!!! Crowds were a bit worse than the May trip too.

Both times you could have cut through the love bugs with a knife. So no advantage there one way or the other.

I'd vote for May. :)

ohiominnie :p

p.s. as for your son...he'll like it no matter WHEN you go!

We are going May 4-12, 2002.We did go in September last year. Our deciding factors for going in May instead odf this September, were:

1. More time to save money, as I really want this to be THE ultimate trip.

2. Weather!! Although September was nice when we were there, it is hurricane season, and two days after we left is when a hurricane hit! ;)

3. Gives me more time to lose weight!!:) :)

Hi There,
Oh boy I would not think of any other BETTER time than September...

Although it is in the hurricane season, the crowds are much less than in May.

WDW also runs many great lodging specials that are unbeatable. We obtained rezzies at Yacht Club for $179 per night for this September!! That is truly a phenominal rate!!

HI! My husband and I went May 9-15 in 1999 with a 6, 4 and 10mos. The crowds were LOW! Weather was great, too! We had friends that went in Sept and they said never again, too hot! Plus Sept 17 of 1999 was last time huge hurricane threat was. We wanted to go this may but my daughter would only be 13 mos. and it was a handful in 1999 with a 10 mos. old so we're going Dec when she'll be 20mos. The older your baby is the better, I think! But I know how the anticipation of going will Kill You!! thanks!

My experience - Go September

Less Crowds

Better Rates

Avoid May tourists, spring break, Easter, etc.

September Weather is enjoyable

You'll have more fun/flexibility with a 12 month than a 20 month. Take a back carry pack for 12 month, or push a stroller, have fun. The 20 month age is great - but needier. The 12 month old will sleep anywhere under any condition. By 20 months - your child will require more effort, consideration, etc.

What you miss in school for one week can be made up.

What you gain in memories cannot.
