Help! Should I add days BEFORE or AFTER our trip for Memorial Day Weekend??

Ok, so I've got ressie's at HoJo for May 29th-June 2nd at the Ent. Rate. We were originally going to fly and just go down for the long weekend but now we may drive down and spend a few extra days in the area visiting family.

Should I add the 2 extra days on at the beginning of the trip or the end?? We will probably get in late and get up the next morning and go to DL, then DCA the 2nd day, then visit family for 2 days, then do DL and DCA again.

However, I'm concerned with the crowds for Memorial Day weekend. I've read the awesome sticky concerning AP's and blockouts but I still can't figure out what would be best!

Help me...please!

yea, i wouldn't be anywhere in california at all that weekend, but if thats when you must come, be prepared to only hit a few rides while visiting sincemost lines will be over an hour wait. i would suggest coming after the holiday as your extension.

I am going to suggest after Memorial day. If you look at the schedual that is up on Disneyland.com right now, the park hours during the week after MD are until 11pm for DL and 9 for DCA. These are extended hours, where in May the main DL park was open until 8pm. There also seems to be many big shows playing during that week for some reason. Even shows that usually are played only on weekends like Fantasmic & the Fireworks. Even Aladdin is playing each day during that week. Your chances of seeing things you may want to see are really good if you go after MD! Although Indiana Jones is down for a few day during June 1 & 2nd but everything else will be up and running. OOOH and one other reason I would choose after MD, is because the few days leading up to MD weekend have a grad night in there which means DL park will be closing a bit earlier so the grads can have run of the park for the night. You might want to bypass that if your looking into getting all the hours in you can. Happy Planning.

Thanks all for the advice! I have decided to add the extra days at the end and I'm crossing my fingers that crowds won't be overwhelming. DH is NOT a people person....

We will be going May 29th & 30 and I plan on taking Memorial Day as a pool/rest break since I'm so scared of the crowds on the holiday itself. Then going back into the parks on June 1st & 2nd.

Looks like there's lots of AP blockouts for the 29th & 30th so hopefully this will help and there will be less people on those days before the holiday.

We weren't planning this trip but DH's grandma is sick and we need to make a trip down to visit her. And of course you can't be 45 mins away from DL and NOT visit! That's just crazy talk! Plus DS has been talking non-stop about when are we going back to DL- sometimes you just have to go for it!
