Help! Sdhc Card Locked!

I have an 8GB pqI card. It has only been used since about April and has about 1000 pictures on it. My husband was loading them onto our computer to make a CD of them when the computer crashed. The card now reads "Memory Card Error - Card Locked" when I put it back into the camera. It will not read on my other computer or the one at Costco. The little plastic thing on the card has been moved up and down several times, so that's not it! Does anyone have any suggestions where I might find an answer to this problem?
Are my pictures gone?
I am going to be ill if all of my pictures are gone! My son's track meet, his eighth grade graduation, and our all of our vaction pictures are on that card!
