Help!! Removing Perm marker from cooler

Hi All, my DS age 3 decided to color our cooler and used my sharpies to draw all over the top. What can I do to remove it? It's basically squiggles all over in black marker.

Did you try Magic Eraser? That works on lots of things.

Same questio different item, I got it on the drivers seat of my car it is leather, do you think those things might work for that I keep getting it all over my white pants

Don't know if this actually works but I heard if you go over permanent marker with a dry erase marker, let it sit for a few minutes, then wipe off.

I teach kindergarten and I don't know if this will work on that surface or not but I use fingernail polish remover to remover permanent marker.

I have DS's name written on the outside of the cooler he takes to day camp, and it comes off when I wipe it with Lysol spray kitchen cleaner. Of course that's probably because I don't want it to come off...

Rubbing Alcohol will take off permanent marker and so will hairspray. I don't know if either will work on leather, but they will on the cooler.

Hairspray will take permanent marker off clothing. I spray it on a Q-tip then rub it on the stain, but you can also probably spray it directly on the fabric.

I've found that Sharpie is not all that permanent on plastics like water bottles, so I think it would come off the cooler fairly easily. Goo Gone, petroleum distillates, mineral spirits (paint thinner), nail polish remover - any kind of organic solvent should do it. Just don't leave it on too long and be sure to wash it off well - solvents can eat plastic.

You're welcome! Just be persistent - I saved DD5's Valentine's dress when she got Sharpie on it - it was worth the effort!

It doesn't have to be cheaper, it's actually the alcohol in the hairspray that helps remove the ink. But cheaper products usually have more alcohol in them. If I ever hair color on my clothing at work I spray it directly with hairspray and throw it in the wash when I get home and it *usually* comes out. The sooner you spray it the better chance. Agreed, especially since this is the budget board. I don't want to use a $15 can of hairspray to save a $5 shirt!

After DD5 decided to circle what she wanted to do on Playhouse disney.com with a black thick lined Sharpie, I was able to get it off by using a damp paper towel with a little bit of Colgate Sensitive Teeth Whitening Toothpaste. Worked like a charm! I thought for sure I was going to be living with a big black circle on my nice flat screen and DH was going to throttle her. Not sure if other tooth paste would work or not, but it didn't scratch the screen.

That's why I say go straight for the rubbing alcohol. I have saved clothing with using alcohol. It takes some work, especially on light clothing, but just keep applying, scrubbing and blotting.

anybody know how to get marker stains off of a wooden table(cherry finish)??
DS2 was drawing on a piece of paper and the marker went clear thru the paper...

This might sound really odd, but sunscreen might work! It takes it right off anything plastic that I've encountered. Good luck!
