Well our annual passes have finally arrived and just last night we booked flights for the week before Christmas  Never been for the Christmas celebrations and we are soooo excited :cheer2:

We are flying into Beauvais, which we've never done before, and I think we will hire a car to drive to Disney and back.

Has anybody on here done it? Which company did you use and how easy was the drive? Have had a good quote from Autoeurope but it doesn't seem that they are actually based at airport when I look at the airport link on this site.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much. :goodvibes

I was looking at hiring a car from CDG but the deposit amount put me off.

Make sure you take into account that they will have to put an amount (I was quoted between 600 euro and 2000 euro) on 'hold' on your credit card. I know you can take out insurance to get this back should you have an accident but I have heard that many horror stories it frightened me!

As for the drive, France is wonderful to drive in. Much easier than this country. :goodvibes

If you have a look at this thread, the last post on it mentions a shuttle service between Beauvais airport and DLRP for only 45 euros. I might even consider it myself - as Ryanair often have sales (like right now) to Beauvais for as little as 4p return :goodvibes

Yes. Our flights were 1p!!. Though with the taxes, luggage and check in fees it finally came to about £150 for the 4 of us - but that's still loads cheaper than all the other airlines were quoting. Was worried about the hassle of flying into Beauvais but at that price it's a bargain. :)

Just need to sort out getting to Disney from there now - oh and a hotel to stay in too!!

Expedia are offering Santa Fe and Cheyenne cheaper than the Holiday Inn! Need to weigh up what each offers - have only ever stayed off-site - but might be nice to stay nearer.

Also, will ring Disney later and see what the prices are with the Dream pass discount. :cheer2:

Shame they don't say what shuttle service it is as i can't find anything anywhere near that price.

No - me neither - though it does say 45 euros per person - so for 4 of us that would be 180 euros each way!!:scared1: Still going to pursue the car hire option I think as it should work out cheaper.

I think Autoeurope might be a broker and then place the car hire through one of the agents based at the airport - can anyone confirm this? Their prices are reasonable.

Hi,

It was me that saw the prices for 45euro, it was on:

http://www.beauvais.airport-shuttle.com/beauvais_shuttle.htm

For 4 it says 33euro per person shuttle and private transfer is 150euro.

Not sure what dates you are travelling, but you might get cheaper quote for Holiday Inn, directly with them on www.ichotelsgroup.com than with Expedia. When I was checking Expedia for next year I got a cheaper quote for Holiday Inn directly.

hope that helps.

Have i got this right then? so for 2 people it would cost 90 euros. Now is that 90 euros just one way or is that 90 euros return.?
Coz if it's return,. well, that's interesting :rolleyes1

I think its one way...

Good news if it isnt though. ;) ;)

Just to clarify, I haven't used that transfer company, so can't personally vouch for them, but their prices are the best I found for transfer from Beauvais.

They also advertise a "Scheduled Bus" for 18 euro per person into Paris, you could always then transfer by train (cheaper again).

It is 90euro one way for 2 people. Or you could use their scheduled service which is 18euro per person each way into paris centre then transfer by train??

Congratulations on booking your holiday! :) I'm so envious - never having been at Christmas before.

We started going to DLRP earlier this year, and have been twice - both times flying into Beauvais and hiring a car. For us (2 adults, two children), the cost of hiring a car is cheaper than paying for the shuttle transport (e.g. for a 4-day stay, the car hire was £150, whereas the return shuttle close to €200). We used Hertz and then Sixt, both were absolutely fine with no problems whatsoever. With Sixt we were actually upgraded from an Economy 4-door car to a BMW 1-series, which was a nice bonus! We booked on both occasions through Expedia. We hired a booster seat for our younger daughter - this was arranged at the hire office and cost ~ £25.

Some helpful tips:

i) I would recommend taking a SatNav (with Western Europe maps), as this makes the journey from the airport to DLRP much easier. It can be done using an old-fashioned map if you don't have a SatNav, but the many slip-roads could cause a headache (i.e. difficult to correct your course once you veer off), especially on your 1st run.

ii) Be careful when choosing which class of car to hire, that you choose one with 4 doors (if you want 4 doors that is). Some classes are described as having 2 or 4 doors, and there is no guarantee which you will get (as witnessed by us in June when another holidaymaker was most upset at being give a 2-door car for 4 hefty, elderly adults!).

iii) Be careful to adhere to the speed limit, and keep your eyes peeled for the sign in the link below (as this warns you of speed cameras ahead). On my first trip, I was caught speeding on the motorway (i.e. > 110kph) as I was oblivious as to what this sign implied. http://www.abelard.org/france/first-arrival.php

iv) Finally, I would advise you to take out insurance for the excessive policy excess under the hire car rental policy, as this will work out cheaper in the long run than paying the daily EDW charge with the rental company. I took an annual policy out through this website: http://www.insurance4carhire.com.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!! :thumbsup2
