Help question about switching resorts under 30 days.

I was hoping someone could help me.
we have 4 days at BWV for 60 points. My hubby prefers beach club but it wasnt available but now three days are. He’d rather go three nights at BC but if I do the switch what happens to my extra 15 points I won’t be using? We have bank rights until end of November. But won’t this 15 points go into holding instead of me being able to bank. Anyone ever done this by switching and using LESS points?

Right now, DVC is not sending the points from late cancellations to holding. My advice ( since it's so close to your banking deadline) is to call MS to make your rearrangements and ask the CM to bank the extra 15 points after everything is done. Maybe you'll even get some pixie dust and the last night at BCV will be available when you call. Good luck!

I hear that they are not placing points into holding right now. I haven’t personally canceled yet this year, but I bet if you call MS right away, they will let you bank them. But as many here have said, they can change that holding waiver at any time and I would modify your ressie via phone as soon as you can.

I changed a reservation to one that used fewer points at less than 31 days out. When I did the change on line, it said points would go into Holding. But after I went through with it, they did not go into Holding. And then I used the extra points to make a different reservation. I did ask MS before I completed the change and they said they would not go into Holding. This was about two months ago.

Thank you all!! I appreciate your responses. I’m researching now whether for a leisure pool visit if going to BCV or BWV is better. I can’t seem to find if stormalong bay is open yet. Anyone know??

Thank you Deb. Any chance you know if they have the hot tubs open? My hubby really likes to go in them. He wants me to cancel trip if all the hot tubs are closed!!

I'm ready to just leave your hubby at home! As @CarolMN stated above, call and maybe they will find that extra night for you. Also put in a wait list - you never know as people are switching up all the time.

Lol. I know!! I should leave him home!! I’m too scared to change from boardwalk now. I’d have to change flights if we stayed for only three days. I know I can’t pool hop to SAB but I’ll be ok at the boardwalk. We have boardwalk view so that will be nice. I’ll keep looking at BCV though as I see availability keeps changing!

Stupid question, but why not just grab the 3 nights at BCV and then stay 1 night you can't get at BWV? You have Stormalong Bay privileges on your checkin and checkout days even if you're checking into another hotel.

Here right now at BC, and the only things closed in Storm-a-long Bay are the lockers and shower rooms. Everything else, slide, lazy river and indeed all of the hot tubs are open.

I modified today for a stay next week. I didn’t feel like waiting on hold anymore so just canceled myself and made new reservation. My points went back into use year not holding.

When you go to view or modify details the following message shows up at bottom:

Need to Cancel?
Cancellation restrictions have been lifted for reservations arriving within the next 30 days. Vacation Points returned due to a Resort reservation cancellation will not be placed in a holding account and will be returned to the current Use Year.

Thank you all!! Turns out that Beach club did come up again for all our nights and we were able to easily switch from BWV to BCV. Hope we made the right decision and I pray all the hot tubs there are open or hubby is going to be mad!!

We are in a studio —any suggestion in a room request? Again we are just doing a pool/hot tub trip!! Thanks for the help!!

We stayed at the Boardwalk 2 weeks ago and went over to the beach club. Pool and hot tub was open and was completely empty at Beach club. One other place that was open and empty was the Boardwalk Inn's pool and hot tub...since the non-DVC side isn't open, it was super quiet over there if you wanted to go over and check that out.
