Help pls with transportation question to other areas.

Hi,

Should we want to leave the resort for the day to get to Universal or Sea World what are our options?

We will be taking magical express from the airport so we won't have a car for the week.

Rent a car for a day or two?
Cab?
City bus?

might go with rent car -then you schedule is yours.

cab /taxi is in for US.

there is Lynx bus that stops at TTC (MK) that goes to SW.

so you could take the bus.

you have more freedom with a rental car.

I have heard Disney has their own car rental service? Is there a link to this?

You could also call Mears Transportation they offer service at a fairly reasonable price.

I believe Tiffany Towncar does as well.

I've used both for airport transportation and have not had a problem with either of them.

disney will pick you up and drop you off.

Sea World is 20 minutes via city bus from Downtown Disney.

As for universal, you can buy tickets that include transportation from Dreams Unlimited Travel, one of the sponsors of disboards.

There is an Alamo car rental office at both the Disney car care center:

You can check rates at Alamo's website. If you have a Costco membership, go on the Costco site and through their travel options and you can find even cheaper rates!

If you book a rental through Alamo/National, you can get your car at the Car Care Center, or from the Dolphin..you do have to make that choice when booking though. The CCC will send a shuttle for you. AGain, you have to let them know you want a shuttle to and from their office.
At the Dolphin, you can just head to either DHS or Epcot and go to the Dolphin and get your car.
There are various car rental companies in various DTD resorts. Budget, for instance, is at the Doubletree..and they also have a shuttle.
No rental company brings the car to you though.

There is a Lynx bus that runs from the TTC and stops at SeaWorld's parking lot entrance. It's about $1.50 pp, each way....need exact change. I think they leave at 20 past the hour and 10 before the hour, but that may have changed. You do have to let the driver know, when boarding, that you want to get off at SeaWorld.
If going to US/IoA, you can book the Mears shuttle....$18 or so pp, r/t. It needs to be booked the day before you want to go..you can call from your resort room. They will give you a pick up time. You can either set up your return time then, or call them a few hours before you are ready to leave the parks.

A cab will run you about $35-40 each way. Car services will be about the same.

just about all of the major car rental companies will send a shuttle for you. I suggest you look at their web sites for the least expensive one, call their local (FL) office, ask if they will pick you up/drop you off at your resort & ask if they have any "managers specials" which can be lower than the internet rate.

We contacted a Hertz in Kissimmee, picked us up at WL, brought us to the office to sign paperwork & pick up car, gave us $10 off the rate we had & then brought us back to WL when we dropped the car off. Took about 1/2 hr each way, very easy.
