Hi I haven't been on these boards in a few years since we moved to Florida and now are annual pass holders. We have been using my husbands military for discounts on the rooms. 1. Can I get free dinning?
2. Is there a minimum stay to get the dinning?
3. If I can only use military discount on a value room is it worth paying for the dinning plan?

The only way to get free dining is to pay full price for the room and at least 2 day park rickets for everyone in the party. So I doubt with a military discount and annual passes it would benefit you.

I did question Disney about this....we would be able to still get free dinning because we are pass holders. But because we would be using military discount on hotel then we would not be able to.

AP holders can't get FD without buying 2 day tickets like the general public. If that's what the CM told you they were wrong or misunderstood your question

AP holders and Military Discounts can book a ticketless pkg with dining you just have to pay for the dining plan. You just don't have to buy the 2 day base tickets to get it like everybody else.

You are right, you have to buy 2 day passes for free dining with AP. I was told I did not have to by a CM, but went I went to book the reservation, the system would not let it go through without the 2 days passes. But, for us, the 2 day passes were cheaper than the dining plan with the current room discount, so it worked for us!

I was told different then. She didn't say anything about me having to pay for 2 tickets. In fact we have gotten free dinning in the past using military rare for hotel.

You got lucky and I don't know how they did that. I have NEVER heard of Disney stacking discounts for anyone. It's not possible to do it on their computers. The whole reason that the dining plan is free, is because the guest pays the full price for the resort room and purchases at least 2-day tickets (it used to be 1-day passes, but Disney got wise to that).

You can get an AP discount room and pay for the dining plan without having to buy tickets.

You can get a military discount room and pay for the dining plan without having to buy tickets.

You can get free dining when you pay the rack rate for the room and purchase 2-day base tickets for everyone on the reservation.

You cannot get free dining by combining it with other discounts. It doesn't work that way. Ever.

If you buy the 2 day ticket. Dont use them, save them and present them when you renew your AP. They will credit those on your renewal. Hope that helps!

I wonder if the CM misunderstood you and thought you were asking about the AP/dining plan package. It use to be that you could not get the dining plan with an AP. You always had to purchase a package that included park tickets and room. About 3 to 5 years ago (time frame off the top of my head) Disney started an AP package. Room (discounted or rack rate) and dining. No tickets necessary. There has never been an AP package that included free dining. As others have said you must purchase at least 2 day base tickets for everyone on the reservation.

This year if Free Dining comes out for our dates, I will book it. It will work out a tad cheaper considering my hubby will need park tickets this trip. (my son and I have annual passes hubby does not). And when you consider that we will have 2 2 day tickets to use for a later trip the difference will be much bigger.

Have fun planning and have a great trip :)

I think you've misunderstood what you've booked in the past.

Free dining has minimum requirements of 2 day myw tickets and 3 night stay - there isn't even a way to book a military room discount with free dining in the system because they are different package codes. There isn't a code for military room discount with free dining. It just isn't even an option.

You ARE able to get a dining plan with a military discounted room... you're just paying for it.

I'm not sure all I do know is it was a very cheap vacation. Maybe there was some sort of mistake then. I know we had free dinning I can tell you that much. Stayed at the cabins. I payed for my moms vacation too so I know I didn't pay for the dinning. In fact I never paid for dinning and we have been there lots of times.

Well if you had free dining and they did charge you for tickets (1 day base a few years ago then changed to 2 days base) you may still have unactivated tickets on your KTTW card. That is if you used your AP's to for park access. So if you have those old key cards bring them with you on your next trip and have them check to see if any tickets are on the cards.

I have never never known anyone to get "FREE" dining without buying park base tickets. I don't think anyone else here has known this to be the case.
