While I am a WDW expert I know nothing about DL. We have free airline tixs from being bumped last week so we are thinking about using them to go to DL. We are DVC members so we would be staying on points. We are thinking early Dec 08. Are there xmas parties at DL like there are at WDW? Does DL have a meal plan like WDW does? Do they have Magical Express? And help would be appreciated. TIA.

I hate to say this but it's pretty much no to all of your questions. They do the Candlelight processional, but it is only one weekend (I think the 1st weekend of Dec?) and they offer meal packages at exorbitant rates ($75 and up per person).

There are special holiday "events" happening-like this year they have Santa's Roundup where you can go see reindeer, pet animals in the petting zoo and do holiday crafty things for kids at no additional cost.
I think the resort hotels have special events going on daily and BB Kings in Downtown has a gingerbread house building event that is rediculously priced ($45 for the first 2 people and $10 each additional person, I Think).

Last I heard they did away with the meal plans. Also, no magical express. Sorry
I wouldn't let this discourage you, we have been to WDW at Christmas time several years and LOVE it, but we also love being at DL this time of year. The holiday decorations and parade are great, think WDW but on a smaller scale. It's also a lot less "hectic" than WDW. Early Dec there are no crowds at all, and it is a relaxing vacation (vs every trip to WDW that we have had).
We are pass holders so we visit pretty often. Let me know if you have any other questions!

For Christmas there aren't any special extra-cost parties a la WDW, but the parks are decked out exquisitely - you won't be disappointed. Since you're talking about early December I should point out that DL closes early on (usually) the first Monday and Tuesday of December so they can hold the private CM Christmas party.

it has a meal plan, mattering how many days you want. i had 5day package. it had charter brekfest,lunch and dnner at goofys, and like 2 15doller vouthers and and 4 10s, and brekfest at the park-for like 180

DL does not have the same meal plan as WDW. At DL it is more of a pre pay type thing. You buy vouchers for $$ amounts and use these instead of cash. However you do not get change from the vouchers. As for the magical express DL do not have a dedicated luggage collection/bus like at WDW. Unlike WDW, Disneyland does not close early and then force to pay a special price to get in to enjoy the night time entertainment. You can go from 8:00am to Midnight for the single gate price. The fireworks and castle snow event, and all the characters in costumes and everything else they charge extra for in Florida and inlcuded in the gate all day long.

And it is less hectic here as well. Our "Little" Park is the perfect place for a nice pleasant Christmas Experience and I would think you will really enjoy it. Sometimes Bigger isn't Better.

Except of course for those two nights of the cast member Christmas party when DL at 6pm and they have the fireworks at 5:45pm, which gets the attention of the nearby Anaheim residents.
