Help please - Travelling with cereal in luggage

My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Disney World next year and I have a question regarding our flight back.

I am aware of most of the rules about food in luggage, but I wondered if any of you veteran flyers could answer this specific question:

I am a HUGE fan of Lucky Charms (cereal) and I would like to pack at least 4 boxes worth in my suitcase (checked-in luggage, NOT hand luggage). Obviously, I could fit more in if I took them out of the box and just left them in the plastic packaging. Is it alright to leave them like that? And do I have to declare them or anything?

We travelled back on Virgin in April this year and we bought back some lucky charms for a friend and had no trouble getting them through. They do sell them in Costco in the uk if you know anyone with a card.

yep bring back lucky charms, my dd always does as their her favourite!! never had any probs bringing them through in the past few yrs, no need to declare them, and no probs taken out of the cardboard box!

We bring back Folgers coffee and take it out of the box. Also have brought back other food items without a problem. Enjoy your cereal

A shop recently opened near us selling food items from the USA - I think the cereals were around 4 POUND a box!!

I saw Froot Loops in a shop here at £8 !!!


We also bought cerial home this last trip with no problems.
