Help please,need to cancel today due to surgery with borrowed points

Hello,
I booked for the July 4th and then broke my wrist and had to get a plate a screws.
it is too early for me to travel per my doctor , I have a use year of December and I borrowed from the ones that I was going to get this December. If I cancel I will have to use those points before December 1,2015, correct?

I would call member services first thing in the morning and see if they will make an exception and cancel without holding points.

Yes. Call ms and tell them your story. Sometimes they will put the points back in their original use year. Good luck. Let us know.

Yes, you should cancel immediately. Any current-year points can be banked into next year, but any borrowed points would have to be used by December first of this year.

Where is your reservation? I would talk to ms first and see if they can help. Otherwise, for a July 4th reservation, I would try to rent that out. If you're in a vied for resort, it may be a better option. Good luck!

I have a similar situation I still have 2014 points but borrowed 2015. I am Dec UY. I had to cancel a res so now there are 30 points in 2014 and 60 in 2015? Forgive me I'm new to this. Should I be ok to bank ALL my points by July 31 given I already have my vacations for nov 2015 and April 2016 booked. Thank you in advance!

So I Called MS this morning and explained my situation, she was very nice and asked her supervisor about returning all of my 260 points back to my 2015 UY!
that was great,so it was done.
thank you so much!
she also explained to me that the 89 dollars for the insurance that they offer includes the points, flight, etc and that the points are not returned to you but that money for the points goes to credit for your annual dues. Good to know

Your Nov 2015 trip is still in your 2014 use year, so don't bank those 30 points. You need them for your trip.

It sounds like the reservation you cancelled was sometime before Dec and that you cancelled more than 30 days out so they are not in holding? If so then your 2014 points can still be banked by July 31st. Borrowing is a final transaction (usually) so the 2015 points you borrowed for the reservation need to be used before Dec 1, 2015. If your Nov reservation was made using 2014 points you can ask MS to allocate the borrowed points to that reservation and free up 2014 points that you can bank into your next UY.

Yes! That's my understanding now! Thank you for clearing it up! I guess I was confused with 2015 points because they are borrowed. Dec UY confused me for a minute
