Help please! Just can't decide which hotel to go for!

I've called the three hotels and have been told no pool hopping, but have also seen GCH guests using the Neverland pool. I don't think PPH guests can pool hop, and don't think DLH guests can use the GCH pool.

Having said that, though, I also am aware that Disneyland will say one thing over the phone, and have a more flexible policy in real life. Glad you were able to use all the pools.

Disney sure does love to have a variety of answers for one question! The answer that I have received three times now is this:
GCH: Can use any of the three hotel pools
DLH: Can use Neverland Pool (obviously) and the PP pool.
PP: Can use only their own pool.

I always ask because my kids always think it would be fun to pool hop and it never happens because we are too busy and barely make time to use our own resort pool!

You really can't go wrong with either hotel. They both are so magical. As everyone mentioned location at the GC just cant be beat but after finally staying at the DLH last year, it just might be our favorite. Taking the monorail every day was fun and we usually did not walk through DTD. I requested the Sierra building and got it with a wonderful pool view. Grandville is our all time favorite restuarant ever! Its also nice having Goofys right there but we aren't big on character meals-the kids just dont eat well.
We did enjoy our stay at GC. It was Christmastime and the decorations were amazing. PP was also fun but its been a long time since we stayed there. They are all great :cheer2:
This trip in August we are staying at the Embassy Suites since I am taking and paying for my parents also (couldnt afford the extra $1000+ for PP) Its nice that the rooms are big and breakfast is included.

I just showed the pics of both hotels to DH and we are agreed on the GC now, and I even showed him the rates, he must like the look of the hotel very much, as he didn't flinch! ;)

Smart Man!! I honestly do not think you will regret staying at the Grand, and being a once in a blue moon trip, I think you made a great decision. I have stayed at the DLH many times, and I know it's the oldest, but I just don't get the appeal. The slides at the GC pool are just as fun as the ones at the Neverland Pool, and it's not like you can go in the boat or climb on it at the DLH pool. My kids love the GC pool just as much!

Plus there is a reason that the Grand has been featured on Great Hotels on the travel channel, because it is. It also has the shower and toilet seperate so two people could get ready at the same time.

Just know that at the Grand Californian its two queens and a sleeping bag or one queen and bunk beds. They don't have rollaways or daybeds.

Just a slight correction to this. We stayed in room 4101, and had two queens & a daybed. The GC does have them, just not that many.

Amy&Dan - thanks for the info. Regarding the pools I think we would be too busy to pool hop as well, so we are quite happy just using the GC pool. :thumbsup2

IandGsmum - glad to hear you enjoyed your stays at both hotels, and I hope you and your family enjoy the Embassy Suites - sounds like a great family trip is planned! :)

Matterhorn - I will tell DH is his smart, that will make sure he doesn't change his mind! ;) I didn't know the hotel had been on tv, so thanks for that, and thanks for letting me know about the bathroom setup, that is great for us with 2 teenagers. :thumbsup2

MaryJo - oh thanks, will remember that, but not sure whether a daybed would be long enough - we are a tall family, we may just prefer to have the extra room space, do you remember how long it was compared to the other beds? Thanks.

Thanks for the links MaryJo - great pics! :thumbsup2

Scrappy910 - glad you enjoyed the DLH, it looks great but the GC has won us over.

AnotherDimension - don't worry, we will probably only have time to use our own pool anyway, as we have a lot to pack into 3 days, but thanks for letting me know.

Cool! Have a wonderful vis! :sunny:

With the weather Anaheim hasd been getting this week, at least one pool nearby is mandatory! :)

AnotherDimension - thanks I'm sure we will have a wonderful time - glad to hear you are having great weather over there. We went to Disneyland Paris a few days ago and it was VERY cold, the wind blew right through us! :sad2: We still had a great time though, and the Lion King show was brilliant! :Pinkbounc We got front row seats and Simba held my hand and sang to me - I am definitely in love now! ;)

Wow, I cannot believe how some of the castmembers are not in the loop! I just called this past week on this since I don't know if my son will be comfortable on the small bunk bed setup and wanted to request a daybed room. I was told by the cm that there were NO daybeds or rollaways at the GCH! I am going to call back this afternoon and request one again. Does anyone know if a 11 year old of average height could fit into one of those bunkbeds? CM told me it would be tight but he is under 5' tall for sure which she said is the cutoff they give to people.

Amy&Dan,

Go to my GC thread & I have a pic of my kids in a bunkbed. My son was about 5'4" at the time, and barely fit. My dd was a little over 5' and fit fine. I am 5', and I had a lot of room there.

Mary Jo, thanks so much! I can cross calling the GCH off my list of things to do this week! Now I know (thanks to you) that my son who is about 4'10" will fit just fine. The way the the cast member explained it to me made me think that 5' or close to it would be very tight. This way I know that regardless of what we get, he'll sleep comfortably!
