We are flying into Orlando/Sanford Airport on a Sunday night and we are going to rent car to take us to the Disney Movies Resort. On Monday we are planning on taking the car back to the rental place. Does anyone know a car rental agency that will drive us back to the Disney area.

Any suggestions on what to do will be greatly appreciaited!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to criticize, but I'm curious why you don't just take a shuttle of some sort from the airport to the resort in the first place, rather than deal with the whole process of renting for just one day? I'm only familiar with MCO, but I assume there are similar services running at the other Orlando airport? (Mears, taxi cab, limo, etc.)

How are you getting back to the airport at the end of your trip? It sounds as if you are going to be spending a lot of time driving back and forth from the airport. According to Mapquest, it is 48 miles from Sanford t ASMo, about an hour drive, under perfect conditions.

According the the Sanford International website, Mears does run a shuttle out of Sanford. I don't know what the cost would be. Here is a link to the site

I have used Sunray Transportation www.sunraytransportation.com as my transportation from MCO and they do also pick up at Sanford. According to their site, it is $180 roundtrip for up to 6 people. Depending on the size of your traveling party, this may be a cheaper way to go.

have to agree with previous posters

isnt the only reason you are renting the car to get from sanford to hotel - but you are returning it next day - I count 4 segments.

- airport to hotel
hotel to airport (Next day)
then back to hotel
end of trip go back to airport somehow for flight.

even though you will be saving $$$ on car rental you will spend more on taxis between airport and hotel.

I would suggest either keeping rental car for duration or mears or other transport in place of rental. But thats only me.

I do not believe any car rental agency will transport you back to WDW. - 96 miles rt for them - not happening.

Price one-way rentals from Alamo, National, Dollar, Enterprise.
Alamo can be returned at the Car Car Center just outside the Magic Kingdom parking lot, or at the Dolphin Resort.
National can be returned at the Dolphin.
Dollar can be returned at the Grosvenor on Hotel Plaza Boulevard (walk to Downtown Disney).
Enterprise will pick you up, so check to see if they'll drive you back to your hotel when you return the car.

We are not driving the rental car back to Orlando/Sanford but to the rental agency near disney. :)

I have talked to a few shuttle services and thought they were high but if they do round trip maybe it wouldn't be so bad! Does that mean they will pick us up from the airport when we arrive and take us to Disney. When it's time to leave they will pick us up from Disney and take us back to the airport?

Sorry if I sound so green. I am so excited about this trip but it is truly freaking me out!! LOL

Thanks so much for everyone's advice, I truly appreciate it!!

First of all......Welcome to the DIS boards!! Now, as to the hows/whys/whos of getting from an airport to WDW. You have several options here. You could rent a car at Sanford Intnl, drive to AllStar Movies, then return the car the next day at an office close to WDW. Or you can hire a towncar service to pick you up at Sanford, drive you to Movies, then do the return when you're done. That should run you about $200.
A rental will be cheaper, but a bit more hassle. There are a ton of car rental companies in the WDW area. There is the Car Care Center, over by the entrance to MK. But, they only do Alamo rentals. You can use Alamo or National and return your car at the Dolphin Resort, a quick walk from either Epcot or MGM. And there are many companies in the DTD resort groups. They will also return you to your resort, or pick you up in order to get to the rental office.
So, there you have it. What would I do? If it were my first trip, I think I would be very tempted to just spring for the towncar and not futz about with driving and taking up the time involved in renting cars.

Thank you so much!!!! I am really stressed out about this!! Ridiculous I know, but I want everything to work out perfect! I'm not sure we can swing the extra 200 and may just go with a rental for budget sake. I am happy to know that the rental agency will drop us off at the resort and possibly pick us up. I will research this more today!!

Keep the advice coming, I need it!! LOL:thumbsup2

Now that makes a little bit more sense.
For your rental, make sure you check the codes on mousesavers.com. I know in the past when I was trying to rent a car, I nearly lost my hair trying to find a good deal. One-day /oneway rentals can be very pricey. Depending on the length of your stay, it may be cheaper to rent for the full time period, other than the 2 oneways. Hope that made sense :confused3

100% correct. I don't know how long you are staying, but depending on the length of time that you are at WDW, you should be able to get a car for under the approx $200 of the town car if you rent for the whole time.

The beauty of car rentals is that you can cancel reservations without any penalty. Use the codes are mousesavers and make a reservation. Keep checking back to see if you can get a better rate and then cancel the other reservation. DW often makes and then cancels approx 6-7 reservations until she finds the best rate for us.
