Help Please...Borrowing points and possibly cancelling reservation

I should know the answer but I do not. I am considering booking a December 2015 trip. Availability is limited so I am concerned if I wait there will be less or no availability. So my question is this...if I borrow my 2016 points for this December 2015 trip and decide we will not go, what exactly will happen to my points. If I do decide to cancel, I will be cancelling over 30+1 days prior to my check in date. Thanks for your help!

Banking & Borrowing are final transactions. If there were any banked or borrowed points used for the reservation, those will need to be used by the end of the use year or they will expire.

The borrowed points stay in the current use year and has to be used before the next use year.

You can't bank borrowed points. You will need to use them up before your use year ends of you will lose those points.

In other words, borrowed points won't go back to the use year it came from.

Banking or borrowing points moves them to the other UY and they are stuck there if you don't use them.
