I am so confused and I am hoping I can find some help here. I have a 1 year old boy and a 3, 11 and 12 year old girls. I don't want to have ADR's all day long, going from one to another. I really just want one a day, one to ensure we are eating a decent meal once a day and to get out of the heat in August. I am having trouble deciding on which two of these to do. Whispering Canyon, Ohana, or Mickey's Backyard BBQ. These are my ADR's currently.

Sat 8/13 11:20 Chef Mickey
Sund 8/14 2:40pm Mama Melrose's (Fantasmic package)
Mon 8/15 4:20pm Coral Reef
Tues 8/16 5:10 Ohana
Wed 8/17 6:45 WCC
Thur 8/18 12pm Akershus

Thank you for all your help. Any input on any of my ADR's would be greatly appreciated.

Ellen

I don't know that WCC is the best choice for your family. In part it might depend on what else you are doing that day/what park you are going to be in.

CM is fine, especially to start your trip by getting the Fab 5 characters all together. MM is not my favorite place to eat but in order to get F! seating in August it is definitely worth it. Coral Reef is a neat experience and I absolutely love Ohana. Akershus is a good 1-TS credit way to maximize the princess experience.

That leaves you with one dinner, currently set for WCC. If you are going to be in the MK that day, I'd recommend either stay in the park at Crystal Palace (Pooh characters) or go to 1900 PF in the GF, right on the monorail (Cinderella, Prince Charming, evil StepMother, and hilarious StepSisters). The Steps are worth the price of admission. Your older girls may be "too old" for Pooh or princesses but the Steps work well with all ages because they can be SO sarcastic.

If you are going to be at a different park, let us know and we can make other suggestions. In Epcot, the Biergarten buffet generally appeals to all ages. If you are going to be in the area of the AK or don't mind a bit of travel via bus transfer, Boma is really differnt; take advantage of the time there to also explore the AKL, go view the animals they have there, etc.

On Wed 8/17 where we are set for WCC right now I have planned to be in AK. I have heard alot about Boma but thought WCC would be best with the kids. AK closes at 6pm that time of year so we can get to WCC or Mickey's BBQ or wherever really. We will have our own car as well.

here's my take, having travelled w/pre-teens and toddlers at the same time:

'Ohana was a hit all around... everyone will be entertained and well fed... the fact that it's family style and brought to you table is a HUGE PLUS!!

WCC is likely to be fun for everyone if you get into the "action" (and have a server that cooperates)... getting to/from can either be a hassle or part of the experience... we take the boat 'cause the kids enjoy it, and you can leave the little one(s) in the stroller! WL is also a great place to visit...

MBYBBQ... i'd say avoid at all costs... see my buffet comments below, couple that with being outdoors under a pavillion, no air-conditioning and no assigned seating... chaos for all!

what you might want to consider instead of MBYBBQ is HDDR... great food, great show, along with family style convenience... even at 1yo our ds enjoyed it and now at 2yo he sings the song all the time!

my issue w/buffets w/kids as little as yours is that you will likely not enjoy it... you will not get to sit, relax or enjoy the food because as the mom, the bulk of your time will be spent running to the buffet for the kids, getting the autograph book and camera ready, getting the kids posed w/the characters, etc... bottom line: hassled meal and cold food!

Well, if you don't have Park Hoppers then you could certainly go to 1900 PF. Check the timing - you could go down to the beach afterwards and see the Electric Water Pageant. Or you could take the boat across to Ft. Wilderness for campfire singalong, marhsmallow roast, and a Disney movie with Chip &Dale. That whole event is free (unless you forgot to bring a bag of marshmallows from home; Disney will happily sell you a kit right there but it's $$$).

Mickey's BBQ is cute but the characters do not come to the tables: it's just an everyday BBQ meal and the characters dance up on a stage. And it costs 2 TS credits. I'd go with a 1 TS meal unless you have unused credits or are paying OOP for everything (in which case, again, you will want to look at the respective prices).

I think you have some really good choices. I'd like to suggest something a little different, though, that *might* work better for you.

When we were there in '09, we did one TS each day and we chose to do those TS meals as late lunches...around 2:30 or 3ish. The reason for that is this: I could feed the kids an easy breakfast of cereal or whatever in the room before we left, see the parks, give them a lunchtime snack if necessary, and then - by 2:30 - we were pretty much ready to stop for the day...or at least an extended rest. And, because it was such an "off" time, we felt more relaxed and didn't have to wait for our ADRs. We checked in and were pretty much seated right away. And then, by having our heavy meal in the middle of the day, the kids really weren't hungry for much at dinner.
