Help Planning our first DVC trip

We are headed to FL next June and want to have our first DVC trip. We are currently booked a Savannah view at AKV, our home resort. We would like to do some nights at Vero Beach and if we could get a room a studio at the Beach Club. Our trip is booked currently for June 12, so am I right in saying we can call to try to switch on Nov 12? Exactly what do I need to be prepared with..... should I call first thing once Member services opens?

Any tips or help I would love!

Congrats on booking your first DVC trip. I just did that myself, and can't wait to go!!

You can switch your booking to your non-home resort 7 months from the day you first want that non-home resort. So if you wanted your trip at Vero Beach to start June 15th, you would call Nov 15th. I believe you would have to make a separate call to switch again to the other non-home resort 7 months from your first day there.

We are going in July, 7 days at BWV (1 Bedroom). We are thinking of 2 nights at VB. I asked when I booked what I had to do "call back at 7 months” They did tell me I might have issues if I tried to do it in the middle (3 days BWV, 2 days VB, 2 days BWV). When I modify my 7 days I would give up the 4 day and might not get the last 2 @ BWV. My wife and I did this last April but it was off season and had no problem. Loved VB, have fun.

As the PP said, you'll want to try to swap out days at the beginning or end of your stay (easier to trim days off the existing reservation than to split it in two). Beach Club will be the hardest (as it is small and popular!). If they don't have it, waitlist for it.
