help planning jan or feb akv trip

We thought we'd take advantage of banked dvc points and try a january or february trip to akl-trying to stay in a 1 bedroom concierge room. Thought we'd pull the kids out of school and do a Saturday to Wednesday trip. Is there a specific weekend to avoid? Are the concierge rooms "worth" the points? Help with any advice please!

I would guess ML King weekend would be a busy one, but just a guess. Also President's Day in Feb.

The first weekend (if it is marathon weekend) can be busy, and MLK weekend is definitely busy. February is busy for President's day, but that's about it.

Good luck getting that Concierge level room at teh 11 month window! With the new booking proceedures, I'm expecting it to be very difficult! I'm going to be trying for a couple of days in Dec. 2009, so I'm planning on calling right at 9 AM on the appropriate January date to get it.

BTW, we LOVE January! We usually do the first half of the month, but this coming January we are doing the last half. We are booked in a 2 bedroom Savanna view at AKV for a week and then 5 more days at an OKW 1 bedroom after our guests leave.

Are you talking about Jan/Feb '09? If so it's going to be very, very tough to get a concierge room at AKV just 4-5 months out. There are very few concierge rooms to begin with and they go quickly. Also, keep in mind that not all concierge rooms have savannah views so if that view is important to you you'll want to bump down a category.

I just booked a 1 br concierge AKV for Jan 15 & 16 yesterday!!!! I could not believe it was available~
