I decided I'm heading back to WDW for the holidays in 2018. I want to see all the Christmas decorations and figure if I wait until 2019, it will be right after Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens and the crowds will be horrific. I'm planning to go sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can anyone who has travelled provide input? It may end up being a solo trip, so no kids to worry about.
I'm planning on doing 7 nights. Possible resorts would be Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk, and AKL, depending on cost/discounts/availability.
Option 1: Nov 26-Dec 3 (Monday-Monday).
Pros: lowest crowds, airfare cheaper on weekdays
Cons: would mean I was off work from Thursday-following Monday, so over 1.5 weeks to catch up on. Arriving back on a Monday and still have to work on Tuesday, when I'd be tired. Flying the Monday after Thanksgiving so there could be residual holiday travelers.
Option 2: Dec 1-8 (Saturday-Saturday).
Pros: better for work schedule, as I'd be back at work for a week before leaving again. Arriving back on a Saturday night gives Sunday to recover.
Cons: Pop Warner week (though I'd probably be staying Deluxe so hopefully wouldn't have to deal with them). Airfare more expensive on weekends (I'd need to check once airfares actually come out).
**Also, as I was writing this, there could be another option:
Option 3: Nov 28-Dec 5 (Wed-Wed; could also be Tues-Tues, Thurs-Thurs, etc)
Pros: able to get caught up on some work between Thanksgiving holiday and vacation. Cheaper airfare.
Cons: Arriving back mid-week, so tired at work the next day. Still overlaps Pop Warner week.
Any other ideas or advice? I know this is far away but I'm a crazy planner so like to at least have probable dates in mind...
