Where do I start? What goes in one? I have a adution at a photo studio in our town. There looking for a photographer. There ad said "No experance nessacary, A love for photography and children is a must." I want this job more than anything. This is like my dream job. I have worked with kids for 8 years so ive got the kid thing down. I love photography and have some wonderful photos. I want to make a professional looking portofolio. How many photos should be in it? HElp. Anything you can tell me would be great. What about photo size? 4 by 6?

Are they requiring a portfolio? If "no experience" is one of the qualifiers then it stands to reason that they don't expect much.

If you've got shots to back up what position your applying for that would help out. Shots of kids in different settings and light situation would be an asset. A portfolio should reflect the type of work you're trying to achieve.

Given that it is a studio, you might want to stick to shots taken in a portrait orientation. I personally prefer the look of 5x7s with only one per page.

with absolutley no experience in portfolios I would guess that for the first interview maybe bring 4 kids photos from still sitting portraits to action shots. THen also two or four more pics, maybe some architecture and some landscapes.

Good luck!
Tell us if you get the job.

Ive been taking photos for years. I have many Many many nice shots of kids in action, kids at play, kids being kids... Got some nice landscapes and artectiur from vacations.
I want them to look professional when I bring them in. With a portofolio do you label your photos as to where they were taken and that or no? I want this job badly so I want to look like I know what im doing.

is it a private studio or a chain,,,

odds are if they say no experience neccessary it's because their kids pics are taken in studio, with lights already set up, and roll down backdrops, so a portfolio may mean nothing tothem..

if it's a private studio then a simple portfolio with 8x10 verticals of single children, and horizontal only for large groups, no labeling, let the pics speak for themselves
