Help! Paradise Pier or Good Neighbor

Carousel is probably close to 50% of what Paradise Pier costs. And it's probably half the walking distance that PP is. You'll get a little bit better room at PP, a waterslide, and that Disney feel. But is it worth an extra $125+/night? After staying in it a few years back, it's not worth it for us without a really big discount. Really BIG!!!

We loved PPH. We stayed there twice. We did stay off site twice too, I will do on site as long as I can afford it. I loved the emh! The walk is fine. My son (11) loves the pool. The little cafe in the lobby was good for a quick snack or meal. We didn't get to Surfs up on our last trip. There is a dinner buffet as well, we also missed that. The entrance/exit via the Grand Californian is a big help, but get very crowded in the morning. If you can afford it, go for it!

Im sure this is personal preference but is it worth another $500 for a premium view at PP? Ive also heard that the characters so show up at DLH. Do they do show up at PP as well?

We didn't see any characters wandering but we weren't in the hotel too long. There is a character meal. I am not sure about the premium view, I just had a standard view. We could see the pool.

As most have said Budget is the big factor, we stayed there last April and loved it. The walk is 3-5 mins longer when going thru the grand cal, even with little ones (assuming the are in a stroller), would be slightly more if they were walking themselves.

Great hotel, great location. Win win IMO.

I've enjoyed staying at Paradise Pier several times, but when I am going to be out and busy all day and only venture back to my room to sleep and shower, I'll choose any less expensive property. It really depends on how you are going to spend your time.

Thanks everyone for all the insight on this matter. We decided to splurge and book PP. After all this is my 40th bday trip even though it's a little early. We are very excited!
