I had posted in the Codes and Rates forum about how when we got our postcard, we immediately booked. We were quoted for six nights in the GF, four four-day passes, and dining (we specified deluxe dining many times...this comes in later). The CM was having some problems (spelled our names names differently despite all of us having the same last name, stopping to check things multiple times, etc) and our booking took over an hour. Fine. It was a weekend. He told us he couldn't apply the discount to deluxe dining, so we asked if we could pay regular for the DxDDP with the discounted plan, he went away to check again and he said that was fine.

We put down our deposit and waited for our invoice. Invoice didn't come through to my email for another day. Our names were spelled wrong despite us having spelled them for him and the invoice said dining.

Naturally, I just wanted to make sure our deluxe dining was on there. We had reiterated it many times and I'm just naturally paranoid when it comes to vacation planning.

So we called and no, deluxe dining isn't on there. We had to go through three CM's who were short with us to get to customer service. This was last night. We told her our dilemma and she was very sympathetic. We asked if the phone call was maybe recorded and she said phone calls are randomly recorded and she would check. She called back today and said our phone call was recorded (and that it was 35 minutes) and she listened to it with another rep and at the end, the CM who booked us said "dining," meaning regular dining, so we were out of luck (and there went her sympathy). When we asked to listen to the phone call (which we were never told was recorded when we called), we were told that that wasn't possible- it was over 55 mintues, which is longer than she originally said it was and shorter than the hour-and-a-half that we have on our phone records.

She wouldn't let us talk and when we asked to speak to a manager or a superior, she said she was it- there wasn't one. I doubt that a customer service rep is the end of the line (but maybe I'm wrong here?). We said we would probably have to cancel and she said she really didn't want us to...she'd see what she can do and call us back.

She called back to say that it was impossible to get deluxe dining with our code (despite us ASKING the CM about this and he said it was no problem) and there are no exclusions of sorts on the discount card we got, not even an "exclusions may apply." Her "seeing what she could do" was repricing our vacation at an extra $1500. If deluxe dining is $30 more per person, per day, at four people is $120 per day, for six nights is a bit more than $700. Where is the extra $800 coming from?

We want to hear where the CM who booked us supposidly said regular dining despite us repeatidly saying deluxe dining and they won't let us. And we kept saying we don't want anything free, we just want what we were told we paid for.

Does anyone have any advice? We really don't want to cancel (this is my birthday and college graduation gift and a pre-graduation gift for my sister), but this is really putting a bad taste in our mouths which really stinks because I *love* everything Disney.

Thanks for reading (and if you got through the whole thing)!

Why don't you just cancel it and then call back the next day and redo your reservation? That's what I would do if you want to make it right. I think they just hired a whole slew of new CM's at the call center b/c I called last week to see if I had a code and it took about 30-40 minutes just for the CM to see if I had a code attached to my name. My cousin also called to book a room-only deal and it took over an hour just to get that booked. I would just call and cancel and then call back later to rebook. Good luck!

He told us he couldn't apply the discount to deluxe dining, so we asked if we could pay regular for the DxDDP with the discounted plan, he went away to check again and he said that was fine.

I don't understand what you mean here. The CM couldn't give you the discount with the deluxe dining so you did what? The dining plan isn't discounted, the room is

If what you received was a 30% or 40% off code like many here have reported, that discount is on the room rate only. It doesn't matter if you book a room only reservation or a package, you only receive the discount on the room portion of your reservation.

So, if you book a package like you've done, there is no discount on the dining plan or the park tickets. I'm not sure why the $1500 increase, but you can figure it up yourself. Check the website and see what rack rate is for your room, subtract the percentage discount, then add on the dining plan and what the tickets would cost, both at full price, and see if this isn't what they're now quoting you.

I hope you get it worked out.

See, the thing is I did price it myself and I don't see where $1500 comes in.

The CM who booked us told us our code was applicable to room AND packages, but for whatever reason wasn't applicable to deluxe dining (only regular dining). We asked if we could just pay the extra, he went away to ask and came back and said that would be fine.

Our problem now is the customer service rep is saying she heard him say "dining" on the recording (which is rather ambiguous considering there are three dining plans) so even though we specificially said deluxe, he said "dining" at the end and we have no recollection of this and they won't let us hear the recording.

We're trying to go up the chain, but no one is being very helpful and it's getting rather frustrating. I've booked us twelve vacations (Disney and otherwise) in the past five years and I've never encountered such a problem before.

Let me clarify: the CM said he could not discount the deluxe dining so we asked if we could pay the difference (ie upgrade and pay the extra $120 a day for the four of us). He went away to ask and said no problem.

The customer service rep said that she didn't hear this on the conversation (but she also originally said our 90 minute conversation was just over a half-hour, and then later said it was 55 minutes...our phone records show otherwise) but that Deluxe Dining couldn't be done with the code.

My point is that the CM was given wrong information, gave us wrong information, and then took our CC# and booked us, and now Disney won't even acknowledge that happened even though they have the phone recording (which we were never told was recorded when we called and we are being told we cannot listen to) and they won't rectify the situation, either by giving us what we were quoted or even apologizing.

Do they work for packages or single/seperate things/costs?

So far we've seen codes that include free dining, for 20, 30 or 40% off selected hotel rooms.. and one code that included a free parkhopping & waterparks fun n more upgrade to your base tickets.

A 15, 20, 25 ,30 or 40% off room-only code .. sometimes can be used with a package.. But when you do so, you are still only getting (x)% off the room portion of your package costs. The Tickets, dining plan and any other optional add-ons are at the normal rate unless your offer explicitly says otherwise.

At any given point in time there may be several codes that may apply to your vacation. Pick one. You can only use one discount code per reservation. Choose wisely.

The code only discounts the room. So you asked to upgrade to deluxe dining and the CM said no, then you asked again.

No.

He specificially said the code applied to room AND packages.

We asked for deluxe dining. He went to check to see if he could do that. Came back and said no, only regular dining (which we currently are booked under WITH the discount even though we asked for deluxe dining and he confirmed). We asked if we could pay the difference, he went and checked again and said that wouldn't be a problem.

Either way, our code applied to room AND package. Our room, our tickets, and our dining is discounted currently at 30%. I've crunched the numbers. The problem is that we were given and paid for regular dining when we asked for and he confirmed deluxe. We are now being told that never happened, that he confirmed interest in regular dining with us, but they won't let us listen to the call so we can hear what they're hearing.

But see, our CM discounted EVERYTHING. Maybe he was new. Maybe who he asked was wrong, but either way, we got 30% off everything.

The problem is that we were told our quote included the OOP cost of upgrading to deluxe dining and it didn't and the only way Disney will rectify this is to charge us an extra $1500 when the OOP cost would be $720. She told us we could wait because there are upcoming promotions that might help us, but her refusal to let us listen to the recorded conversation is what really puts us off.

We know what we heard, but she won't tell us what she heard to make her decide that we were in the wrong (even though he said deluxe dining many times in our conversation).

I'm just at a loss of what to do. We really don't want to pay the extra $1500 when it should be $720 and when we were quoted wrong and they took our money anyways.

It sounds like the first CM goofed, and you can't fix that. Moving on, I believe that the source of the $1500 difference is this:

You can either get 30% off of your room, tickets AND regular dining.

Or you can get 30% off of your room and pay full price for tickets and dining.

The difference between those two is awfully close to $1500. If it were me, I'd go with the option that you already have booked and use the $1500 to pay for any additional dining that you'd like to do. Sounds like you'll still come out way ahead.

And look at it this way - you were VERY, VERY lucky to get a 30% off code that discounted your entire package, so you are way ahead of the game compared to most people!

Sorry you're having such a time getting what you thought you bought.

Sometimes the call for a ressie takes so long..I get distracted, lose track of what I'm trying to get and what my 2nd, 3rd choices were, and agree to something I didn't really want  Sad but true.

I have to let the pain of calling for a ressie deal at WDW float over my head, otherwise I'd get so aggravated I'd never go back. I may have gotten the same person for a recent ressie - the 4 of us in my family also had our last name spelled differently 4 times. I could go into it more, but I won't :)

Room discounts and the Dining plans are be great, but they can cause a lot of angst :sad2:

You have a nice vacation planned and got a discount, be happy :)

Save the extra money you were going to pay for the Deluxe Dining plan, put in on a visa card and use that to buy the extras you want and don't get on the regular plan. Or, like someone else suggested, cancel and re-book - if you can stand another long phone call and want to take a chance on availability.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for this :)

I figured he made a goof when I first posted last week about this because I hadn't read about anyone else getting a discount on packages.

I guess I'm just very disappointed because we made so many plans and we have to reconfigure them. We like the convenience of pre-paying for our plans and at the end of the day, it was the CM who made the mistake and no one wants to apologize or even be kind. The customer service rep who was so nice yesterday (oddly enough, before she heard the tape) was so rude tonight. She wouldn't let us get a word in edgewise and all she would say is that she has 30 years in customer service...we never questioned her credentials!

I just want this resolved because our 190 days are next week (original CM said we could book at 190 days. I thought it was 180...was he wrong on that, too?) and I want to be able to book our reservations and be done with it.

Like I said, we don't want any upgrades that we don't deserve, we don't want anything free...we're even willing to pay the $720 difference that we thought we HAD paid and that we were told we could...we're just not finding anyone who will listen.

I've been upset all night and planning a Disney trip shouldn't be anything but happy and exciting.

Thanks for the kind words :) I plan our vacations as a means of stress relief and I've never had it be *this* stressful before. And I realize that even being able to afford a vacation to WDW is a privilege in itself. I've never booked directly through Disney before (I usually book through the Web site by myself) and I guessed I expected more friendly customer service. We never really got stern with anyone and maybe that's the problem. Even the customer service rep commented how nicely we spoke with the CM who was obviously having problems.

We can't cancel and rebook because we'd never get the same rate. The CM messed up somewhere. I just re-crunched the numbers and 30% off of everything, INCLUDING deluxe dining, is $20 more than we paid. We're going to try to get an itemized bill to see how everything was laid out.

I just wish I didn't feel so helpless to do anything. If this were any other trip, I probably wouldn't care as much (we don't have money to throw around by any means, but an extra few hundred dollars or an extra $720 in this case won't hurt us), but this is my birthday trip and a late graduation gift (I just graduated college a few weeks ago and this was part of my gift). And they won't even let US pay what we were originally told we could.

I just saw a YOAMD commercial and I just wish that attitude applied towards Disney's customer service.

I had a long, detailed response ready with numbers and everything... but ultimately, it comes down to: You were lucky. Disney is honoring mistakes made by its Cast Member. It can't reasonably be expected that they would authorize changes to this error.

Sorry but I think he gave you wrong info, discount is on room, I've never heard of discounted dining... that's always been at cost or part of free dining promotion.

We had the 40% off code last year... we had to pay full price for dining.

Congrats on your graduation. I think the most stress free way to go about it, is to take the 30% off of the room and dining they are offering and use the extra 1500 to upgrade your dining yourself. I know it's not what you orginially wanted (that does suck) but I think the orginal cm you had errored in your favor. It is convienent to have every thing prepaid ahead of time but I think this time the hassle is not worth the convienence (sp?).
Take the extra money and but it on a visa gift card. this way it's sorta prepaid (:)

You can still book your ADR's with no problem. Book where you originally planned to dine. No worries.

I totally agree. If I had a code of any kind, I would be doing cartwheels. You still got a great rate, focus on that. :thumbsup2

DITTO! A lot of us didn't even receive the 30% off code. Be happy that you received a PIN code at all. I'd be thrilled just to receive any code/discount for our upcomming trip.

Sorry that you had a misunderstanding when communicating with the CM over the phone. But you now know how codes are suppossed to apply to packages (PIN code is applicable, but the 30% comes off the room rate only). Time to move forward, and plan out & enjoy your WDW vacation. :wizard:

I suppose you could call again, give the code and see what the CM quotes you. You don't even have to give a name. I did that last year when I was waiting for new codes to pop up, then immediately called my travel agent with the code when it was available.

No harm in giving it a shot. Then, if you get the same/better deal, you can always book that and then cancel your original booking.
