HELP! No Trip Insurance!

My mom is having a few health issues and her Dr. said she may not be able to travel before talking to a specialist (we live in an average size town so it may be possible she'll get in in time especially since she works at the hosptial).

We didn't purchase trip cancellation insurance (please don't rag on me for this I'm stressed enough).

She booked a separate room for herself at ASSp. If she can't go what are our options as far as her room goes? She won't want the trip/her money to go to waste. Is there an option to cancel her room and put the $$ towards us staying at moderate or deluxe? She will be upset if it just simply goes to waste and I don't want her worrying about any of this stuff!

Just wanted to say good luck, I had JUST finished reading your entire PTR and then I saw this...
 
Sorry to hear about your mom :( If she booked a "room only" you have up to 5 days before to cancel with full refund :) If you booked a package deal then you can cancel with a $100 cancelation fee. Hope this helps

You can also 'reschedule' or 'move your booking' - these are official Disney terms. I've had to do this before, and so you have to put in another set of dates, so perhaps your mom could go at another date, or, someone else can go?

If not, then as the above poster said, you can cancel with minimal penalty.
