Help...Newby at BCV....

We have booked a week at BCV for first week in November in a 2 bedroom... We've never stayed at BCV before and are very excited to give it a try, espeically StormAlong Bay! But I've recently read some reveiws that some people feel that some of the Villas feel a long way away from things, which makes me a bit hesitant. Just wondering if those of you who have stayed at BCV would be willing to share your thoughts and/or tips...

Yes, we have stayed at BCV several times.

BCV seems to have two areas:
1) closer to BC
2) a wing further out from BC

We have stayed in the 1st area twice...and the further area our last trip. That was last summer. It really was quite a hike out to the pool area. This summer, we will request to be closer to the lobby, even if it means waiting longer for our room to be ready.

The one nice thing about being "further out" was that we had a parking lot right next to our building, and so we parked our own vehicle there & because we ALWAYS use it -we saved a lot of $$$ as were not having to tip the valet several times a day.

You are going to love BCV - it's our favorite resort!

Depending where your villa is, you could be closer to the Marketplace and therefore not too far from BC and SAB. You could be close to the parking lot and then have a longer walk to those things, but really, it's not a huge resort! The villa pool is very conveniently located to all of the villas and some prefer not to walk to SAB, but enjoy that pool. Most people would go to SAB by walking through the lobby of BC, and maybe some don't like doing that. There are two elevator locations at BCV and I think that's a great plus. As huge as BWV is, there is only one set of elevators, and that's something I think is very poor.

No matter where you stay at BCV, you are very close to Epcot. I think it would be farther to walk to the BC/YC dock than it is to walk around the perimeter of the BC rooms to the International Gateway of Epcot. The walk back to your room after Illuminations(watch from the bridge between Great Britain and France) is so quick and easy, you'll find yourself tempted to go see it every night.

I hope you have weather that's warm enough to enjoy SAB and your first BCV stay. It's a lovely, wonderful resort. If you have a villa that looks across the canal, it's such a lovely sight at night, with the lights reflecting off the water. I've had rooms in lots of locations and some very long walks to SAB, but I love BCV. (We have 6 home resorts and one of them is BCV!) I hope you have a wonderful wonderful time!!!

I guess I'm confused.... Do you have to Valet Park? We really would rather self park to save the $$. Is self parking available and convienent if your villa is closer to the lobby???

No, you don't have to valet park. I can't tell you how convenient self parking is - I don't know where any self parking is in relation to any of the resorts that do offer valet, except the under-building parking at Kidani.

There is no more free valet parking for DVC members. The charge is $12 per day and that gives you full "in and out" privileges at all resorts that offer valet, meaning if you pay at BCV, you can go have breakfast at GF and lunch at BWV and dinner at CR and valet park at each without paying any additional valet fees. (though you would need to tip)

BCV is a small resort. While some people may think they are walking a long way, I'd venture to guess that they haven't stayed at BWV or AKV. Self parking is a great perk at BCV because you can self park right next to the villas. No need to valet park. Even when we did get free valet parking, we never used it at BCV. It is closer to self park than valet park. If you valet park you have a longer walk to the villas. Save a little money.

We've stayed at the BCV a few times and we like to head out to Illuminations about 8:45 or 8:50PM and get there (even going through Security and the ticket area) before the lights go down and the show starts. Then we are back in the room before 9:30PM.

You can walk to DHS in about 20 minutes or less from BCV.

I'd bet the longest walk at BCV is shorter than the walk from the bus to the ticket gate at MK.

We have stayed at AKV three times now (Jambo twice, Kidani once). Our walk to the pool was definitely closer when we stayed at Jambo (room was right in the lobby off the elevator) as compared to BCV room 269 (think that was it). Concerning Kidani, the distance was probably about the same.

I think Deb was referring to an average walk at BCV compared to those two resorts. BWV, Jambo and Kidani are all much larger than BCV.

If you click on a room # you can see the view from the balcony. We stayed in 1br # 320 in dec. It was next to the main elevator and had a nice view of fireworks.

If you go to the Dunes Cove pool it may be closer than the Jambo House pool.

Thanks so much, these maps are awesome! Has anyone ever stayed in one of the corner units on any of the floors... they end in 34 & 54, on the maps the layout seems like it's different then others, they kind of look like the second bedroom is seperated by something and they are listed as a dedicated two bedroom....just wondering what it looks like inside...

We've been in lockoff villas ending in 28 and 30 a number of times. I thought the room to the right of them was a cast member room? Something about it is different. There is a door there for certain at least on the 2nd floor so I don't think they are dedicated 2 BRs at any rate. I'll check out the door in a bit over a month as I'm curious about it now.
