Help, newbie needs advice

I have read a lot on this wonderful board and have learned so much neat info but, I have a question (one, that I can think of now LOL) I called our local Barnes and Nobles for the two books talked about, The Unofficial Guide 2006 (they have) and the Passporter world resort (2006 not in stock but they have the 2005) Is there much diff in the two years or should I calm myself down and wait and order the 2006 passporter. LOL I also noticed that on line there was a big price diff I guess because one was made of leather but, it seemed to be the same book just a diff dollar amount.

We are going June 5-12 2006 and we are so excited. This is a family vacation with my DH, DD that will be 9 then and myself. We will be staying at the pop century and also are flying. I am trying to get all the info I can on everything so we can have a very good and relaxing vacation. We do not normally get to do such a big vacation and DD and I have never flown before. I have been to WDW when I was a teen way back in the 80's and would have loved to have stayed longer. We drove from Orlando everyday to the park from our hotel.

Does anyone have any info on the "My Disney Girls Perfectly Princess Tea Party?" I know that they get a lot of things with it and it is pricey but I wanted to do that one if it was really neat and then another charecter meal. I think the "Once upon a time breakfast with Cinderella" would be neat. To be in the Castle would be awesome!!! This part of the trip is to be a surprise for our daughter. Any wisdom from you all would be wonderful!!! How about the Chef Mickey??

I guess you can't tell that I am so excited and spending all my spare time looking up a lot of info. This site is awesome and so many wonderful people and pictures too.

I was really wondering if someone knew about my first post in there about the Princess meal. I need to know if anyone has gone and if so how long before hand do I need to made arrangements??

This is our First family trip to WDW and I want it to be special. I want to surprise our daughter.

Well, ym family always does Chef Mickey's. It has pretty decent food. It has Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto walking around to the tables with Goofy in the waiting area. We haven't tried any other character meal except for Chef Mickey's. We are happy with it.

Welcome to the dis and congratulations on your trip. The leatherbound passporter has the same info as the non leather bound...I believe it has a 3 ring binder in it that will allow you to take pages in and out of it.

Another planning resource that I used on my last trip was www.tourguidemike.com it is like an on-line guidebook that is constantly updated with current changes at WDW. ETA here is a promo code for $3 off A82E8-2AH. The guy that runs the site has a bussiness that gives VIP tours of WDW and his tour guide mike website has all of the information that will allow you to plan and design your own tour. I'm really not doing the site justice here, but maybe someone else will come along and be able to describe it better.

I also like the Unoffical Guide, but I only buy it every other year or two becuase not much changes in it from year to year.

As far as charchter meals go Cinderella's castle for breakfast or lunch would be wonderful for your daughters first trip. Also the Princess Story book breakfast at Askerhaus in Norway at Epcot is also popular.

I have both the Unofficial Guide and the Passporter (along with others) I don't think too much will be different from the 2005-2006 version, and I may be wrong, but I think you can download any extra pages from the passporter website? I think I remember reading that on one of their emails. Anyway, I absolutely LOVED my Passporter. You are able to keep something of a journal once you are there by writing down everything you did, what time you did it, how much you spent on lunch, what your impressions were of different things,etc. It is really fun to read over all those details from our previous trips when I need a little Disney fix.

Never been to the Perfectly Princess Tea Party, so I can't help ya there, but check out allearsnet.com, though, they have lots of reviews and photos of most anything you could ever want to know, including menus.

For what it's worth, my DD (soon to be 9) has been both to Cinderella's and Chef Mickey's and (much to my dismay! ) prefers Chef Mickey's hands down. She loves the party atmosphere and the napkin swinging, and from our view point, she eats much better at Chef Mickey's than she does at CRT.

If you're gung-ho on a Princess Meal, I've read that the Princess Storybook Dining in the Norway Pavilion at EPCOT is good. The allearsnet website has info. They also offer a lunch and dinner, so you and DD could go while the rest of your family does some touring.

Our family has done a character dinner in the past and we much preferred it to the breakfast - we lost a lot of touring time in the morning by going to the breakfast, plus the kids were full and didn't really feel like dashing off to a ride.

We just took our first trip to Disney this past October. My 4 1/2 year old daughter is a princess fanatic so we took her to the princess breakfast at Restaurant Akershus in Norway in Epcot. It was good. My 2 older sons and husband liked the food and we saw lots of princesses (Belle, Jasmine, Ariel, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty) We did not do the meal at Cinderellas Castle because my daughter really didn't care if she was in the castle or not and we heard there weren't too many princesses there to see. We also did Chef Mickeys. It was fun - the food was ok but my kids loved it and saw lots of characters (Chip and Dale, Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie) I planned with the Passporter and loved it as I am a organizational nut and it had lots of info, pockets for your stuff, etc.

I went and got some books and I am hooked on reading on this board about stuff. I am just so excited and want everything to be perfect for my daughters first trip to WDW.

I know that we will probably try the Chef Mickey (maybe for dinner you think?) and the princess in the Norway at Epcot. I just do not know if the Princess tea at the GF would be what she would enjoy and if it would be exciting and memorable for the high price that it is. We are not "high tea" people LOL!!! I am sure I would not know what to do with those diff foods ect. I just wish someone would tell me that they have went and they would say it is a "must do" or a "no way". Hubby would be byhimself and not go to the tea if we did that one. He said for us to go and enjoy and that she would remember it forever but, if it is not good then she would not have had fun.... I am so wishy washy with this one....

Would three character meals be too much if we did decide to do the tea??? We will be there for 7 wonderful days!!!
