HELP - new to OKW!

This is my first post here, so I am sorry if I don't know all of the abbrevations.

I am a Disney Vacation Club Member & my home resort is WL. I have four children and I am hosting an exchange student in Aug to January. So she too will be going to Disney with us. We need to get a 2 bdr villa, which is fine too.

I tried to go to Disney in Oct or Nov, but due to the size of the room we need NOTHING was available except OKW. The last time I stayed at OKW was 15 years ago, and after staying at WL I know things will be different.

I am trying to transfer to the BWV, and I am on the waiting list too. BUT if I can't switch where is the best place to stay in OKW?

After reading this threads, I see that OKW has three levels. What and where is the best place to stay???? My children are 10,8, and twins who are 4 plus my exchange student who is 16 + my husband of course.

I want to be near the store area, and the pool too. And I want to be near the bus stop too. Sorry but I just want to make sure that if I do wind up staying here, I stay in a location that is great!!

Sorry to be so long, but I just want to see what my options are. Thanks for reading and helping me out!

. . . I see that OKW has three levels . . .

1) I don't understand.
2) OKW has three floors in most buildings.
3) OKW has studios, 1-bdrm, 2-bdrm and 3-bdrm units.
4) That's all I know about "levels".
5) For your location question
. . . buildings 11-14 are nearest the food, main pool and shops
. . . buildings 62-64 are across the road and a slight walk
. . . buildings 24-26 are a slightly greater walk

Hi! I own at VWL and just got back from my first stay at OKW. We were in building 64 on the second level and it worked out pretty well for our family of 4 (3 & 5 year old plus DH and I). We were close enough to the Hospitality House to walk it in 3-5 minutes. It is not the Wilderness Lodge, but I knew that going in ...

I wanted to be close to the Hospitality House and the main pool, so I requested building 62,63 or 64 (thinking that I would have a better chance of having my request met than if I requested buildings 11,12,13 or 14 like Passporter recommends ). We were actually assigned bulding 18, but my husband (under strict orders from me ) asked if they had anything in 62, 63 or 64 like I requested - magically a 1 bedroom appeared in 64.

Anyway, this is what I observed (from the standpoint of somebody who wants to be withing easy walking distance of the main facilities). Building 62 looked to be the most convenient - it is right next to a crosswalk that practically spits you out at the main pool and it looks like you had some pretty nice water views. It is also fairly convenient to 2 bus stops. After 62, my choices would be 16, 63, 64, 12, 13, 11 and 14. Also, building 23 would not be that bad - as it is actually a pretty short walk to the Hospitality House and either the HH bus stop or the Peninsular Road bus stop. In fact, building 23 might trump 64 ... except 64 has elevators (which was only really convenient when we were hauling our luggage to and from car).

Anyway, hope your waitlist comes through at BWV since that is your first choice.

I think each neighborhood/section in OKW has it's own charm.

Every bus stops at the Hospitality House last so regardless of what section you are in, just jump on the first bus that comes along...

Thank you everyone for the information! I am going to call tomorrow and ask if they can put me in 64 with the elevator, since my husband will only be 3 weeks into recovery from knee surgery.
