We are planning our 25th wedding anniversary to go to the place that Walt built. We have been to WDW 11 times but we want to see where it all got started.
We will be driving from Texas since my DH does not like to fly so we will have our car.
We would like to stay at a Good Neighbor Hotel for a couple of nights before we transfer to Disneyland Hotel where we will be staying for four days or so.

Can anyone suggest a good one????? We would like something close in case we want to shop at Downtown Disney or grab a bite to eat near there. We have never been to Cali. so we need lots of help. PLEASE!!!!

What are you looking for for the first couple of nights? Do you want something fancy or something basic? Something cheap or something expensive? There are so many choices, it will help immensely if you can narrow it down a bit. :)

That's funny because we are going to WDW in 2014 for our 25th anniversary because we've been to DLR many times, but never WDW. :goodvibes

There are two hotel (or inn) reviews with pics in my sig. All of the big hotels are not walking distance. Our currant favorite is Candy Cane Inn because of its charming look, free breakfast, and easy walking distance. The rooms are nothing exciting and tad on the small side. For our 20th anniversary we stayed at Embassy Suites South and loved that also! However, it was too far to walk and we drove to the parks everyday which meant we had to leave earlier in the morning to get there at opening. There is a bus (ART) that you can buy tickets for and take to the parks, but I swore off busses a long time ago and like coming and going on my own schedule.

Closest = Best Western Park Place Inn (clean, moderately priced)

HOJO and Fairfield Inn are two other good hotels are Harbor Blvd and just a few more steps down the street.

HOJO is beloved on the boards because they offer great prices.

My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th anniversary in Disneyland. We are among the strange ones that will stay away from the park and either drive to the park or ride ART. We stayed at the Ayres Hotel on Katella. If you go tripadvisor.com it is ranked number 1 by guests on there. I understand why. We had an amazing stay there and will be staying there again in November.
