Hey everyone,
I have been reading the boards here for a while and finally decided to join. My family of 10 is planning a trip to Disney Oct. 4-11. I have been looking at villas until I think my head is going to explode! I have gotten an offer from an owner at Emerald Island for a 5 bedr. villa for $840. This includes pool heat and everything! I am just kind of "leary" of renting from an owner. Any suggestions? Or do any of you own villas to rent? Also, I have no clue about any of the communities...we have never stayed there. Is Emerald Island nice?
Thanks and God bless you. :)

A friend of mine stayed at Emerald Isle and she said it was very nice. That is a really, really good price for any 5 bedroom price.
You can verify ownership by checking on the tax appraiser site. Here is the link to Osceala County.

I noticed that you have stayed at Solana resort. I also got a good offer on a 5 bedr. from there. I was worried that it was far away from Disney. Did you like it?

Emerald Island Resort is very nice and a price like that is great.

That is a *really* good price for a 5 bedroom home at EI.

Emerald Island is a nice resort and is close to WDW. Solana is a bit further away down the 27. The community is nice too though. You will have more shops and restaurants closer to you at Emerald Island, although they are developing more round the 27 area.

If you want, PM me the information you have on the home at Emerald Island and I will see if I can find out any more information for you.

You can also find more homes at www.stayatEmeraldIsland.com

Kay,
I tried to PM you, but it wouldn't let me. It said that I had to have 10 posts or more and I only have 6. Maybe you could try PMing me. I would really like your help.:)

Can you tell me where you found the "offer"

I found the offer on vrbo.com. I have rented from the owner on there several times over the past 2 years and have always had good experiences and saved money.

The villa at Emerald Island is not going to work out. After a little research, I am concerned that the owner is not being honest. So...does anyone have any other suggestions? My mom is paying for the villa and she said it cannot go over $1000 inc. pool heat. If I stay further away, will it be cheaper? (But then there's gas!) Thanks!

Can you tell us what happened? I have great fear of being taken, so I'd like to know what made you become concerned....learn from your experience. Thanks

If you'd rather not post it in public, could you PM me.

We did stay at the Solana Resort. It is further away. We like Davenport though because we can usually find less expensive accommodations. Here is my review for Solana:

We paid a little more for this house than I normally would like to pay being in Davenport, but 3 king bedrooms was very important to me and there were three families splitting the price so we were willing to go a little higher.

I dont think I would pay for pool heat in early Oct. Its usually late Nov before the cool weather hits.

Sorry but you are wrong. Cool weather starts at the end of September and temperatures will be below 80 degrees at night. Pools lose most of their heat during the night so pool heat and a blanket are needed.
