We will be surprising our almost 9yo DD with a trip to Disney, but even more than that, my sister and her family will be meeting us there (we moved to SC from IL over a year ago). DD has no idea that the family is going to be there.

Any suggestions on how to plan the surprise. We will arrive on Sat. AM and will likely go to the parks for a while. My sister and her family will not be in until later...around 10pm. She thought we could plant ourselves at the food court and they could just "bump into us". But I think it could be something more exciting. Any ideas??

I think it would be fun if you could somehow get them into your room. Maybe someone excuses themselves to use the bathroom and instead meets the family in the lobby and escorts them up while the others are distracted in the gift shop or something like that. Then the person who brought them up meets the people in the gift shop and they all go up to the room and 'discover' the people inside.

I had thought about that as well. We are actually checking into BOTH rooms that night at Pop Century so it wouldn't be too hard. Maybe even to go in and put up some decorations too...while DH, DD, DS are at the pool or game room. Then "accidentally" go into the wrong room and have them be in there to surprise her. Thanks for the idea!

How about while you are in the room, pretend to call housekeeping for more towels or pillows or something. Have your sister knock on the door about 10-15 minutes later with the towels or pillows from her room in her hand. Pretend to be busy doing something and ask DD to please get the door for you. See how long it takes for her to see who is behind all the towels or pillows ;)

One of my best memories of WDW was when my kids were 6 and 4 years old and we went and met my parents without the kids knowing they were coming.

DH, DS, DD and I walked to the castle to make dinner reservations (this was in 1992 before ADRs) and then took the horse drawn trolley back to the railroad station entrance. I had planned to meet my parents somewhere on Main Street. As we were riding towards the entrance the kids said "Those people look just like Gramdmom and Granddad." And then they realized that was who they were. When we stopped they jumped off and went running to them. It was so cool.

So anyway, whatever you do, just "bumping" into them or doing something special will still be great.

ETA, I like the housekeeping idea.

I like the housekeeping idea too!

Last year, out ILs, Nephew and Niece met us at WDW. We managed to keep it a surprise from my DDs. DDs knew we were going to WDW, but not that everyone else was. I had a couple of DIS meets set up, so when DH and I were talking, my ILs were just another one of Mommy's internet friends.

We met up with them for dinner before an Illuminations cruise. I'm surprised the YC still has a roof considering how loudly both of my girls shrieked upon realizing that Mommy's Internet friends were Grandpa and Grandma! It was a priceless moment with tears all around!

I do like the Housekeeping idea! Sounds fun.

How cool! I like both ideas. Here is another one. If it gets late and you can't meet till the morning what about this...

Make ressies for the entire party somewhere for breakfast, have the group your meeting go there first sit down and wait. Then maybe call you or let the CM tell you when they are ready, then go up and say your there for your ressie, when the seater brings you to the table you're kids will see that your sharing a table, but not just any table...=o)
