Hi all-I am wondering if you all can help. I am looking at doing an exchange for a resort in London. I live in FL and have not been there for 20 years.
I see there is a place through Interval International called Club Sunterra at Carlton Court. Does anyone know anything about the hotel, the area, etc.?
We of course would like to go see a show, do some shopping, sightseeing (famous areas), etc. Is this a good place to stay? Would we be close to everything?
The address is listed as:
Carlton Court
120, Maida Vale
London, Greater London W9 1QA
United Kingdom
Tel: 0207 644 7000
Fax: 0207 644 7020
Thanks for any help you can provide-even just about the area!

Just popping this over to the UK Community for you :)

Hi StacyPop,
Maida Vale is on the Waterloo Line (on the London Underground system), which is fine for travelling into the centre of the city - the line goes straight through Oxford Circus (shopping) and Piccadilly Circus (near to theatre area), so as far as convenience - it looks fine.
I've never stayed in that area, so can't help you with what it's like?? We always stay near Russell Square, basically as it's convenient for Euston station (to get back home!).
Have listed a few websites for you. Hope they will be of help!!

I think Tracy meant the Bakerloo Line (shown in brown on the tube maps). Again I don't know thw area well but you'll have to get the tube or bus to get anywhere touristy. A rough rule of thumb is to allow 2 minutes per station for your journey on the tube (e.g. Maida Vale to Oxford Street will take about 10 minutes once you're on a train).

Look into buying travel passes as the single jouney fares are ridiculously high.

P.S Maida Vale is in Zone 2 so you'll need a Zone 1&2 ticket to get into central London

Do any of you know anything about the neighborhood that the hotel is in?

Hope you have a great time. We have done a DVC exchange to Devon in the UK before but not London as we actually live there (well the end of the tube line in Barnet). The exchange was good and I am sure your will hotel will be really nice.

Please let us know how you get on and come back with photos (if you can).

I think it is such a good idea to do the exchanges and hope to do loads more in the future. We have also used our points to stay at Disneyland Paris and this year we are using points for the Disney Cruise.

Enjoy yourself.

Do you know anything abotu the neighborhood that it is in? I will probably take my mom and my daughter, so we will be 3 women traveling alone. Just want to make sure it is in a nice, safe area.

I have always perceived Maida Vale as fairly posh but you have to remember London is like any city and can have be rough in places, such as New York, Los Angeles etc.

The exchanges resorts are meant to be the equivalent quality to Disney DVCs, so should be fairly decent.

Maida Vale is a lovely neighbourhood just north of Marble Arch, it has lots of lovely houses and mansion blocks and is very central with lots of buses going everywhere. You're hotel is on Maida Vale road which leads onto the Edgware road (the first place I lived when I moved to London in 1996!). The Edgware road leads straight down to Marble Arch and Hyde Park.

Bus 98 goes down that road and will take you to Marble Arch and go down to Oxford Street (for Selfridges, Bond Street and Regent Street) and then to Tottenham Court Road where you could get off and walk to Covent Garden down the Charing Cross Road.

It's a nice central location without being too touristy, i'm sure you will love it! Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions, I live in the burbs now but work in the City so i'm there every day :)

Hope you have a fab time in London :)
